AAdvantage award Devaluation - Bookings from Mar 22nd 2016

Just did it, yes it's possible.

Did you do two date changes in a row (i.e. made the phone calls close in time to each other)? Or, did you change a date first based on initial circumstances, then much later needed to change it again for whatever new reason, finding out that you were then allowed to change the date further forward?

Just thinking that if they see two date changes rather quick in succession, they might get suspicious.

I waited about 4 weeks before the second change.

The first change (on the multi leg journey) I tried to make the first flight leave on the 365th day of the original ticketing date but was denied as all travel must be completed no more than one year after issue.
There was no charges.

The second change now brings my flights to over 13 months from the date of original ticketing, there was however an change in taxes, minimal at $20 AUD per pax.

For those with ticketed awards pre March 22, has anyone noticed some interesting changes to ticket artefacts upon exchange/reissue? Specifically DOI? If you get my drift and I'm right on this one, this opens up another 331 days beyond 22 March 2016 :P

Lucky I made several speculative bookings pre the DevAAluation. And especially with EY in F!

The DOI will always change every time a ticket is reissued. You are correct in that a reissue would open a further 331 days from the new DOI given 331 days is Sabre's date range limitation.

Generally, the first flight needs to be within 12 months of the original ticket's DOI. The second and subsequent flights can be up to a further 12 months beyond the first flight.

Example:

Original DOI = 01 MAR 2016

01 FEB 2017 - SYD-AUH-LHR
31 JAN 2018 - LHR-AUH-SYD (364 days later)

This is perfectly valid, as long as you fly the SYD-AUH-LHR.

However if you stretch it any further than that, you may potentially get caught up in a carrier's CoC for violating the above validity rules which would result in the voiding of your ticket coupons.

The system will certainly let you do it, but that's a risk that you take and it's a big one at that.

Noticed today that two x 777 First Class seats have come up on EY on the day we are flying SYD > AUH (late August).
Admittedly, it's the 777, wondering if we should switch from our currently ticketed two x 380 Business Class seats?
As we were ticketed before the devaluation, I expect we can do this for 15K points each.
What would others do??!!
Flight times seem better on the 777 flight (dep SYD 1510 arr AUH 0005) to enjoy the premium experience as opposed to the 380 flight (dep SYD 2045 are AUH 0540).
Help!!

A tought one I reckon. While F is F.. the Business studio looks pretty good to me!

Rang AA today who advised change from business to first required miles redeposit and a new award ticket to be issued. As we got our seats under the old 45K award, we will stick with the Business Studio on the 380!

I made exactly the same call today, with the same answer. Date changes, and routing changes with same origin and destination can be done without additional miles under the new award chart, but change in class triggers new ticket hence new award chart.
