I thought I would share this little discovery with you guys.

https://www.silkair.com is allowing you to book RGN-SIN-(Europe, Asia, Africa, Americas) in business class for less than $850USD return.

The RGN-SIN legs are on Silkair business, while the SIN- legs are on SQ metal (388 included).

It's obviously a mistake fare, but who knows, they may honour it.

Gosh - I just tried a dummy booking RGN - LHR Sept this year - econ $800, Biz $950!

It must be a mistake but surely if you book and pay for it they have to honour it?

Where the hell is Yangon anyway?

Where on God's green earth is Yangon? And, more importantly, how does one get there with QFF points?

Better be quick :)

Looks definitely too good to be true :D
Won't stay around long with a $63 US fare and the rest in taxes

If you've booked a connecting ticket, are you allowed to rock up for just the second leg? I.e. if you booked SYD-SIN-LHR and rocked up in SIN to board the second leg without having checked in for (or boarded) the first leg would it work or is the entire fare cancelled if you fail to check in (or board)?

No you can not do that. You're entire ticket would be cancelled once you failed to show up at the origin point.

Then me thinks the pain in getting to BURMA would greatly reduce the benefit of the cheap onwards fare.

The worst part is the fact that you need a visa... $35AUD and god knows how long without your passport.

I haven't been there but you could get to Rangoon on Silk Air, China Southern or Jetstar Asia from respective SE Asian and Chinese ports. Could need a visa to tranit Rangoon though?

Would be an excellent TR!

It's in Myanmar. I don't recall any oneworld services there, although 3K do fly there.

Had a quick look and there were some 3K flights available!

Done.

Assuming the fare is honoured, it's only USD100 per passenger for an otherwise full refund. I'll worry about the details later.

WOW.

Congrats! I love random travel!

I assume you could just jump on a flight home to AUS in Singapore on the return leg, rather than continuing onto Yangon?

I just looked it up on a map - its not far from BKK at all (looks like less than 1000 kms).

Hmmmm. I hadn't thought about ditching the SIN-RGN leg. Ex-BKK is also worth considering.

All in the consideration basket for a week or two down the track, assuming no calls from Silk Air.

Well if you had booked, say EWR-SIN and SIN-RGN on separate tickets, and say SIN-RGN was operated by Jetstar you would just collect luggage and switch planes at SIN wouldnt you?

Although your checked luggage would be a problem.

Let us know how you get on with Silk Air!

I think they do visa on arrival now (but don't quote me on this).

Danger - are you taking out travel insurance for this itinerary?
