What's a Mac reward point worth? Can they be easily transferred to flying programs? Two points per $ looks attractive for a VISA if they're equal to an airline point.

They dont have any airline transfer programs. For me mac points are almost worthless.

40k QFF points though is good value for $99

Just logged onto MQ site. States that "M. Platinum Card Qantas Rewards with 1 QFF point per $ spend and 2 pts per $ on Q products/service".

MacQ Black also gives similar rewards, only difference is after 1st yr, annual fees of $299 for Black and $249 for Qantas.:p

Wonder if having the Macquarie issued Jetstar card precludes me from being a 'new customer '?

Usually no. Can't usually do a balance transfer to the same issuer though.

I'm wary of the balance transfer deal in any case. Often, if you have a minimum spend and a balance transfer, you won't be able to make use of both. Either pay down the full amount (and lose the incentive of the balance transfer) or pay interest on the minimum spend until the balance transfer is paid down. The Mac JQ card was an exception and I did use the balance transfer as I only intended to use the card for JQ bookings and any JQ booking paid with the card that's over $300 automatically gets a 6 month interest free period! Win, win!

I usually get around that by making a spend and then make a bPayment on the same day. That way you can take advantage of the BT and min spend to get the points. I then shelve the card until the BT ends. Make sure the BT is paid out a bit early because they can start at the date of approval not actual funds transfer.

I currently have the Macquarie Woolworths Money visa card which i am planning to get rid of as soon as i have to pay the annual fee.

Would that mean that I could not access this deal ?

ie would I be considered as a new customer?

How good or bad is Macquaire to deal with. Anyone have experience?

Have just read through everything. I just want the QFF bonus points and intend to cancel as soon as I get them. Choice seems to be either the 'Macquarie Black Card' or the 'Macquarie Platinum Card'. Seems I'm better off going with the Platinum as it only requires a $2000 spend. Same annual fee for each card if I read it correctly.

Thanks for posting. Anyone had any experience with the application process?
