Macquarie Platinum Card with Qantas Points

$99 first year primary cardholder annual fee then $249 ongoing. Up to 4 additional cards, annual fee-free.

I had the same card from Macquaire at the beginning of 2016. Only difference was that you had to spend $3000 that time.

No one going for this offering?
We are no all as prolific as you in card churning. In my case I'm quite keen to see my revised Veda score (with the "new score) before I do but may start an "app"athon soon if its looking good.
 
Will definitely give it a look. Need to cancel a few other cards first.
 
Not bad but not great - especially with the NAB spend $1500 for 75k QFF, with $250 annual fee. If the minimum spend criteria is an area of interest...
 
Just curious- why? I always make a phone call, but if you have a better plan I'm interested! I have two cards to cancel on Monday :-)

Several reasons:

1) It saves me time - I use a proforma letter.
2) It means that there is a record of my direction to cancel the card.
3) The letter notes that I won't be liable for any further charges on that card.
4) It means I don't need to provide a reason for cancelling the card or have anyone ask if I just joined up for the points or try and talk me out of it.

Unless you're hunting for some type of offer from them (like more bonus points), it's the best way to go. But then again I did request a partial annual fee refund from BankWest in my cancel letter and they approved it.

The only one that has ever called me was Jetstar (Macquarie) who claimed that they needed my verbal approval to action my request. Each time I have told them my account was already cancelled as per my written direction 10 or so days previously.
 
Haven't had much luck with Macquarie - been rejected twice over the last 5yrs by them but had no issue with others.

I've seen several reports like yours in the past.

I've not had a problem with them.

Not sure what I'm doing 'right'.
 
You must be doing something 'right' obviously :)

Apart from paying bills on time and having a good stable income, I'm not sure what else Macquaire looks for in a potential customer.
