That's a very long term marriage. Once the grief passes I'm sure the widow can think about all those years together. In that they've been truly blessed.

Sadly several of my friends have lost partners after just 25 years or so. And many of those have been in the last few months. It's been a rugged winter I think.

Hasn't been a good year, eight close friends have lost partners or parents in the last six months, but I guess I'm at an age where a lot of my friend's parents are in their eighties or nineties, so unfortunately these things can be expected to steadily increase, doesn't make it any easier though. Not forgetting my own mum of course, she died in early March, aged 88.

We flew to SYD on Thursday to attend the funeral of a BIL. This man worked at SYD airport for around 45 years as a quarantine officer. Q flew him to Honolulu and back to SYD on the first 747 into Aus. His job was to process all the VIP's on that flight before it reached Oz so they could go straight to the VIP room on landing. Oh the famous he met during his career......

I tend to be a bit more philosophical about aged family. Sadly I know of too many young people in their twenties who have passed away in the last couple of years from cancer, meningococcal disease, accidents and suicide. Those deaths I cannot process. They are just wrong.

When a person in their late 80's+ passes away I can rationalise that saying that this is just the reality of life. And think about all the good years and great experiences they've had. So it's just easier to deal with.

The idiots are still celebrating. You'd think they have won the grand final.

But even that is not a good enough excuse. They were going well past 1:00am this morning and we had the pleasure of a helicopter over our house for a few hours last night and they are still going now. Traffic is horrendous.

I can't stand the Rabbitohs but I hope the Bulldogs are inflicted the worst defeat ever in NRL history. Or second worst so at least the Sea Eagles maintain that record. ;)

I am now back in Perth after a quick trip to Melbourne to watch the AFL grand final, thanks to serfty in organizing the tickets, I couldn't believe how lucky I was, the seats that we had were fantastic.
It was good that his team were in the final and won convincingly in the end, I expected Sydney to put up a bit more of a fight.
I guess serfty and myself were the most interested in the AFL this year, myself supporting the Fremantle Dockers, it was disappointing that Fremantle lost to Port as I think that most thought they wouldn't have beaten Hawthorn, they are in a league of their own.
It was also good to catch up with a few others after the game including Cruiser who organized dinner.
Thanks also to penegal in assisting me in a major travel mistake that I made over the weekend.

Yuk, BNE now has the dreaded DF walk through, which takes you in the opposite direction to the lounge.

Can anyone suggest a good solicitor and/or accountant based in Sydney (prefer north or northwest but CBD ok too) to assist with starting up a consulting business. There maybe some legals involving software and licencing with an American firm.

I'd forgotten about that announcement. I guess it will mean ridiculous premiums soon as the status will change from "not for profit" to "lets rip everyone off"?

I don't do this very often but realise why I hardly ever fly back to Brisbane on a Monday morning.

Up at 5:15am, go to SYD airport for flight to BNE, go to apartment via DFO and Translink to drop off bags and make lunch and get to office ~11:25am. I am tired and half asleep and need to put in a few more hours for the day.
