Any thoughts on the 2006 shiraz?
Any thoughts on the 2006 shiraz?
Would guess it is the Murray Street Vineyards 2006 Sophia Shiraz. $120 on their site, 94 from Halliday, another retailer site confirms 15% alcohol. Not a lot of other clues to go on but probably not too many $120 2006 Shiraz still on sale at wineries and this seems to fit most of the available clues.
Not cork though?
The photo on their site is a generic non-vintage one that they use for the 2012 as well, not sure if the 2006 was also (entirely) under screwcap.
My own opinion of it is that its not a wow wine fwiw
The Black Label Cab will reward those patient enough to cellar for 10+ years, esp. now they're in stelvins. I had an 03 (cork) Tuesday night and it was eminently drinkable. Good value in the mid $20 IMHO, but it is no Bordeaux, and not intended to be.
It's screwcap as in here.
2006 Murray Street Vineyards Sophia Shiraz - Super Premium - $40 plus
I haven't sampled it yet. Will give my impression tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure it is overpriced at $50, but that's not what I paid. And if it's sub-par, it's going straight back![]()

You tried it yet? Thoughts? Mine just arrived but haven't had a chance to try (Hungerford Hill Wines - 2011 Collection Hunter Valley Shiraz)
