BNE-HBA. A take on a chicken parma. I’d been spoiled by SQ J food before this flight and VA’s soggy chicken just couldn’t compete.
I just had this SYD-MEL and it was fine.

Substantial and tasty. It does look more photogenic than your's.

March 2025 | VA869 | MEL to SYD

An enjoyable flight made even better by the fact it left right on schedule and had us deplaning 10 minutes early, a bit of a rarity in my experience!

Started with a lemon, lime and bitters in the lounge as well as a small plate of their "chicken fried rice", to be honest it didn't really taste all that different to their usual chicken tagine. 😂

PDBs of still or sparkling water were offered, went with water.

Options for dinner tonight were chicken and sticky lemon sauce with rice and vegetables or creamy mushroom pasta, I chose the chicken with a Coke Zero. I was the first order taken in the full cabin, with orders taken 2AC, 1AC, 1DF, 2DF. Didn't seem to be any issues with people getting their first choice.

I was expecting the chicken to be coated in lemon sauce but instead the sauce sat at the bottom and the chicken on top, which was fine. Was pretty happy with it.

Excellent service from CM Lawrence, who offered plenty of top ups and regularly checked in. It was a very old 737 and the front toilet was out of service which Lawrence advised us of once boarding was complete. Not an issue on a short hop but hopefully not something that we're going to be seeing more regularly!

Got the scenic approach into Sydney which is beautiful even on a rainy day.
