Airfares to US to drop?

I went through inbound US immigration at YYC last week, and it was noticeably quiet. I was asked if I was a drug runner and allowed to pass through.
Given the way our dollar is falling against the U.S. dollar today it will probably get quieter still over there. Unfortunately it is falling against all the other currencies as well.

Hmmm, with the way the US economy is heading at the moment, it’s a good job by us to manage a drop against the USD!

I entered the US earlier in the week. ORD. Same as every other time I have arrived. Straight through GE in 60 seconds and at the Blue Line train in 10 minutes.

I actually suspect regular travellers are less likely to be targeted; it’s unusual things they’re going to be looking for.

A little weird that it's almost perfectly offset by US citizen arrivals, suggesting loads have remained more or less steady.

Just a lot of Americans travelling for Spring Break?

It's not just people wanting to visit the USA who will be impacted. Central and the northern part of South America and Caribbean Islands are usually accessed via the USA.

Except those who deliberately avoid the US and go via Canada/Mexico (like moi)

Yesterday Accor said their bookings for the US are down 25%. The political situation, potential entry issues and exchange rate will have to make a difference to fares and demand.

Yeah, that’s me in a few months.
Caribbean via the US on the way over and then back to the US afterwards.
Will be keeping an eye on the situation

I wouldn't know who would be more shocked if the answer given was "yes" the CBP officer because the question worked, or the drug runner for being caught.

Hmmm this is weird. You'd think, given we seem to have come out relatively unscathed from Trumparifffest 2025, we'd have more takers in holding our currency.
They’re betting our commodity exports (to China) will tank….😔

It has certainly smashed the AUD/Euro as well - I'm having to recalculate a lot of things this morning - a great project that was viable two weeks ago now isn't:(
