What cheeses me off

WCMO. Driving along a single lane highway with speed limit 80 Kmph and the guy in front is doing 60. Oh well.

Come to a section of dual lane where the left-hand line goes straight ahead and the new inside lane is on the right.

Of course you know what the guy does - he veers right and continues tooling along at 60 in the right-hand lane. There is no right turn in sight. 😡

WCMO II, just yesterday driving a a 90kmh dual carriageway and car up ahead doing 70. The 12 or so cars ahead start pulling into the left lane to pass. I control my displeasure and do same thinking the driver may be elderly. They were not, probably 30's and waving when the horn sounded. Where's the HP when needed.

Update to my Hyundai saga...

Got a call this afternoon from the service department manager to confirm that the (previously non-existent ) accessory kit and the replacement badging have arrived. Car now booked in for Tuesday morning to have accessory kit installed and badging replaced.

Let's see what else they can screw up whilst they're at it...

Sounds like a dealership under a bit of stress, be it financial or otherwise. My local Hyundai dealership, Sunco @Caloundra, were excellent when I purchased my Kona. Sadly times have shifted and I am looking at a GWM Tank 300 and a LDV deliver Van next year. Sunco also do LDV and MG, a sign of the times.

Frankly, the bulk of the grief has resulted from a seemingly grossly incompetent parts department. It’s not the only issue they have, but it’s been the catalyst for almost everything.

Every single time on an overtaking area the slow poke speeds up to the correct limit making it. illegal 'difficult' for cars to pass. Get past the overtaking area and - said car slows down again to well below the limit.🤬🤬🤬 Quite honestly I think they wire slow cars up so as soon as the car registers a right passing indicator switched on then that's their cue to speed up.

Car servicing. My car had been indicating to check my tyre pressure. So I did, perhaps a few times over a few weeks and brought to correct pressure. Eventually I got sick of it and wanted the service people to inspect the suspect tyre, which I told them was likely rear right side but made a booking to check them all. They called back an hour later and said 'all good, no problems '. I wanted them fixed as we were driving to the country.

Well, you know what happened of course. Went out the next day and that exact tyre was stone cold flat - as a tack 🤬. The RAA had to come out and change it as the jack wasn't the correct one. Drove around to the car service place, they actually tried to say it must be a new issue, and said they would see if they could repair it as it was that kind of puncture. Yeah, a wee bit of metal sticking out of the tyre wasn't a clue of the issue guys? Did you even put it on a lift to inspect them? What did you actually inspect first time? They fixed the tyre without charge. I mean really, did they just dismiss me coz I'm female? Well, they found out never to do that again.

WCMO. It's Good Friday and some nong of a neighbour is chainsawing. FTR this is suburban Sydney.

Ah! Easter! it beings the influx tidal wave of shackies and tourists, most of whom bring their dogs. So this morning we had the dawn chorus of 3 or 4 dogs barking across the neighbourhood at each other and intermittently during the day and evening. It will continue every day for the next week or so.

I usually arrange to go away at Easter but didn't manage it this year.

Hiroshima and Osaka were pretty stunning last week.

Edit: iphone 13 images, so not that great. Hiroshima (on 5th April); Osaka (on 9th April):

That reminds me… as part of the Hyundai “Peace of Mind Service”, there’s a line item for “Road test and report any issues”. I’m curious as to what actually constitutes a “road test” given the odometer reading at drop off per their photos and the service documentation was 936km, and the odometer reading on vehicle collection per my photographic evidence was… 936km 🤔🤷‍♂️

People putting a vest on a dog that says esa (Emotional Support Animal) and then having lunch in a shopping centre cafe with them. Not sure about other states but in the Queensland they are still pets and the definition of ESA does not exist.

Maybe I need to get a croc and put an ESA vest on it!

Not me but watching a news snippet today footage was shown of the aftermath of the Bulldogs-Rabbitohs game. Bulldogs fans celebrating in the street and one fella jigging around on top of a car, the roof buckling under his weight. I reckon the owner was well COd.

Neil Richards told this masthead he counted six shots in total – two shots, a pause and then four in quick succession.

“It’s a bit of a worry, police emptying revolvers in a very high-density urban environment just to allegedly stop a car thief,” Richards said.

SMH article about a stolen car ramming the police. Hmmm Neil, what would suggest an alternative action might be early on a Saturday morning.

"Revolvers"?? Were these police from pre-1997, or just officers that weren't quite up to standard necessary to be issued their semi-automatic Glocks?
