IHG Hotels that recognise status

Just a newbie question. As an IC Ambassador does the food and beverage only apply to premium hotels, IC, Kimpton etc, or does it also apply to Crowne Plazas etc? The IC ambassador T&Cs are not clear on that.

I presume you're referring to the Ambassador F&B credit? If so, it is limited to ICs only, not even Kimptons.

Outside of ICs I find the primary benefit of Ambassador is the complimentary included Platinum status which at least in my experience has been enough to get a room upgrade, 2pm checkout and occasionally an early check in without too much difficulty.

That's why I joined. Tried to use my voucher at IC Adelaide but they couldn't as it was charge-back, and what do I care! Thought I would try it on! Doesn't really matter! Enjoying the benefits of Platinum Elite.

Can’t speak for Voco but definitely not those Accor tiers. Generally much better than Ibis, Ibis Styles and Mercure.

The condition could vary wildly by property and age. I wouldn’t say it’s normal across IHG properties as a rule.

I completely agree with you it varies wildly for all the brands both within IHG and Accor. I always look deeply into the individual hotel, can’t trust the brands alone.

For example the Mercure Doncaster (MEL) is fantastic, new modern property > Voco Brisbane which is just a lipstick cosmetic upgrade to an old tired hotel…

From memory Voco Brisbane was a below par Ibis, if such a beast exists, it had four good rooms, the ones with a balcony on the top floor, a floor not served by a lift.

The Voco was a Mercure. The Indigo was Ibis with very large rooms for an IBIS.

Ibis having anything besides Queen, Twin, King isn’t that common. Sometimes a “Family room”.

In some ways, if you’re just after a bed for the night, an Ibis is usually more predictable than many other brands. eg Ibis Styles can be quite good but the Ibis Styles Kingsgate is a cough hole.

I thought Ibis Styles was a bit above Ibis? I thought Ibis in central Adelaide was quite good, but I'm an IHG guy.

Supposed to be more of a boutique version of Ibis - which basically means they can come in any shape and size (not cookie cutter).

Just intercontinental and Kimpton.

From my experience staying at a number of ibis Styles I would say the hotels are very hit or miss. I've been to some that are indeed better than the usual ibis in terms of room amenities and how modern it looks. On the other hand, I have been to ibis styles (i.e. Perth IIRC) where there was no desk and there was a stool instead of a chair. YMMV

Ok, so regular IC Ambassador gets the awards at all regular IHG brands except as stated? I was told at an HI it didn't apply. Only at premium brands. May depend on the knowledge of the staff!

My reply above was a little unclear, Ambassador is IC only unless you are an RA

Sorry to act so dumb, but do the F & B benefits apply to say HI and CP? Room upgrade and late checkout are available through being a Platinum Elite.
