Some of QR’s rules can be confusing and I must admit I’m not across them all but contrary to most other people I do prefer class of service lounges to class of status lounges.
I still haven’t visited all the lounges in DOH as we have pretty much always had access to the Al Safwa so just head straight there and can’t be bothered moving

In December last year I was turned away from Qatar's lounge in SIN even though I was flying J with JAL and have OW Emerald status - they told the lounge was being prioritized for QR customers at that time (they had a departure in the next hour or so) and told me to come back 90 min later (which I did, and it was lovely).

I’ve only used the QR SIN lounge when flying QR and for the morning flight it’s usually light on for numbers and never busy but on the evening flight it’s usually has often been busy and I’ve seen passengers from other airlines turned away.
I don’t have a problem with any airlines looking after their own pax though and if I was ever in that predicament the silver lining is that SIN has some decent options to tide you through

Qatar turned me away from their own lounge in Qatar when I was flying business on Qatar using Qantas points.

There have been several reports of points PAX being INCORRECTLY turned away. Mainly just after they introduced Lite Biz fares.

These days, QR issued BPs have Lounge / No Lounge printed in them.

I have also had this experience with QATAR airways confusing lounge access rules. They're also quite troublesome to book a reward ticket with, considering their outrageous carrier charges. In my opinon, QATAR is quite obstreperous with doing it's part in the OneWorld alliance, and it would be no loss to see them removed from the program.

I have an upcoming flight Sydney to Doha in economy. I am Qantas WP and also Virgin WP, no status on Qatar. I have attached my Qantas FF number to my booking, which was made directly through Qatar.

I know I can use the Sydney QF F Lounge. But can I get into the NZ lounge too?

Nope, no access to NZ lounge.
It’s a nice lounge but still not as good as the SYD F lounge so no big loss

Thanks jase, purely interested to tick off and say I've checked the NZ lounge out! Shame I can't make it in. If I somehow end up delayed or something I'll wander to NZ and commence negotiations to see what they tell me anyway 🤣
