What the whole SFO-v-LAX thing really comes down to is that both are a mere 5 - 5.5 hours flying time from NYC, which is the only genuinely exciting town on the entire North American continent.

Bwahahahaha, classic.

Only got weekends in LA so don't think I've got much time for SCruns... I will book one of those YUP fares though, seeing as they're so cheap on the SFO-LAX sector. Need the 170 SCs to get PG and unfortunately might be going over on V Australia...

Unfortunate only in SC earning I would suggest. Perhaps you should insist on direct (Syd-SFO - conveniently on QF) although the risk then is you end up on UA

I agree to the extent of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and the annoying Californian 2am closing time (unless scoring an afterhours invite). But there's more ATTITUDE in LA. :D

For a few hrs if you have $ to burn, I'd recommend LA. If more budget conscious, then San Fran.

I have 3 brothers, and all profess to live in the best city in the world without fail. One is a pilot based out of SIN, the other is a surgeon out of FRA, and the last is a (retired) banker out of HKG. By chance, are you a banker? Just curious.

Amen to that. No need for a thread about what to do with 10 hours in NYC. Just being there is enough.

Whilst NYC is fantastic to go to, SFO is not bad either, especially for living. I cannot see myself living in LA.

I spent ten years working at an investment bank, but I escaped. I'm certain that I'll end up living in NYC again, because it's really the only place I can see myself retiring to.

As for 'attitude', the Real Housewives of New York could kick the cough out of those gauche, ghastly, fake-tanned Orange County skan_s any day ;). New Yorkers generally speak derisively of Angelenos, and with good reason. For the most part, they're pretty vulgar. For instance those dental veneers in "Hollywood White"... They're like, you know, totally not cool, or whatever, "Dude".

Just in case you were wondering what I really think...

What about Brockway, Ogdenville and North Havebrook :p

"I've sold monorails to Brockway, Odgenville and North Havebrook and by gom did that put them on the map!"

I'm spending a month there in April/May. Looking forward to the work of course, but a month in SF - ugh. They don't even have a Dolce & Gabbana (re-sellers don't count)! Though at least the Saks there is decent. Oh well, weekends in LA to tide me over...:)

Have you been down to the Stanford Shopping Centre in Stanford/Palo Alto? I haven't been there or the Bay area in 5-6 years, but it did at least have Bloomingdales. A little bit of NYC in NoCal. It's not D&G, but it was a decent shopping centre, IIRC.

This is the first time I've laughed out aloud on this forum. Sir, you have classic wit. I applaud you.
