Priority Economy seat purchase for up to two, including yourself

Priority Economy seat purchase is available when holding or purchasing a Full Economy ticket for up to two people, including the Platinum member. It is available on any Qantas operated flight with a Qantas flight number (excluding non-jet QantasLink services) for bookings made before midday on the day before travel^.

Can somebody please explain this benefit. I looked up rules and did a search but was not enlightened. So if u already have a ticket what is the "priority" benefit?

It means a WP can purchase either:
  • [*=1]Seats for up to two additional Economy PAX to accompany the WP or[*=1]Seats for themselves and up to two additional Economy PAX,
... on any Qantas flight up until Midday the day before. This can be done even if the flight has been oversold.

Note that this is normally charged at full Y rates so can be quite expensive.

e.g. See the following base fare levels for Economy class MEL to BNE - see Y compared to others:

OUCH Those Y fares are pricey!
THanks for the explanation Serfty. OK so WP can get up to 3 seats on any flight as long as long as they book before midday the day before (and pay through the nose :-0 )
