Re: Virgin- Singapore Airlines Alliance approval by ACCC

Hmmm, so wonder what the ramifications are of this?

Good to see VA back on the winners' list, after whatever that LTLounge announcement was.

As a non VA flyer, I've been looking forward to this alliance & the points tie up that comes with it. For me, this was the "critical key" for jumping over & giving VA a go.

IMO, SQ is a brilliant partner (none better) to align with and this has the potential to create a tsunami of new members to VA.....including me.

Looking forward to experiencing a different world in the new year.

Not only am I looking forward to earning SC and miles on SQ flights, but im also looking forward to the prawn dumplings in the SQ lounge.

KAPOW :!:

I reckon this is the biggest smack in the face QF has had on the international side since...since...since their CEO grounded the fleet a few weeks ago :p

SPLAT :!:

Here's hoping they can clear up some of the confusion too - SQ have told me that Velocity gold/plat don't have access to their lounges, although I finally found someone to say that they do after a bit of battling. Still only access to the Krisflyer Gold lounge at Change (the infamous no toilets lounge) though accorgind to SQ and not the hallowed halls of the SilverKris lounge, as the VA webiste states.

I have no doubt that there will be some changes once a proper alliance is in place. SQ are getting access to the Australian domestic network as they have always wanted so benefits will flow both ways I'm sure.

I hope so, silverkris is where the dumplings are at.

The gold lounge has no toilets...and no dumplings.

I would be incredibly dissapointed if us Goldies and the Plats can't access the SQ SilverKris lounge.

Given star elites can't access SQ SilverKris unless flying Business/First, I can't see VA/DJ elites getting access, though can wish.

Unfortunately I think that's the way it's likely to continue. I'm *G and the only time I'm allowing the SilverKris lounge at T3 SIN is if I'm flying business class, otherwise it's the infamous no-toilets, no-showers KrisFlyer Gold lounge. Which is very pleasant other than the lack of toilets and showers. I believe that SQ doesn't even let its own elites into the T3 SIN SilverKris lounge unless they're flying business. This obviously doesn't apply in any other port, where SQ will have just the one lounge for everyone.

It's also the same in T2 SIN, there is a separate SilverKris lounge and a KrisFlyer Gold lounge, though I believe the Gold lounge is actually a contract lounge. This one does have showers though but isn't as nice as the Gold lounge in T3. I seem to recall it being mentioned that the T2 Gold had been renovated very recently though, so I'll be curious to see what it's like when I'm up there in a few weeks.

Hmm. Actually I suspect that you are correct, I thought *Gold got in but then I have always flown SQ in J so...no issue.

I wonder if we will see Virgin joining the *A soon or soonish :?:

Fair enough if that's their policy, but I guess we all get abit confused because the velocity website tells us these are the benefits but then the other airline's computer says nooooo....
