no . my wife and i only fly business while at home. so she knows what a bus seat is like. this was no bus. class

thanks

Qantas don't use single class service on SYD-BNE flights. Even during peak periods where they put extra services on they don't use single class.

It's not a 737-400, Dash 8, 717. What could it be?!

The aircraft was VH-TJE, it departed 2 minutes late and arrived 1 minute early.

Note the OP was not on the flight - their Wife and D-I-L flew; it's from them the report of an all economy configuration came.

These seats were not the Millennium seats of most 73H's the wife may have been used to.

They have "Convertible Seating" where the first five rows of this class can be changed from 3x3 (economy) to 2x2 (business) configuration.

As posted this is done by the armrests in the middle seat moving inward to make more lateral space for the window and aisle seats. Also the seat pitch is of 35", 4" or more greater then the pitch for the non convertible seating after row 6.

From row three I can understand why the perception of "All Economy" was achieved.

Here a photo from airliners.net showing the different seats in the first 5 rows, note that the blue is gone - all seats have been recovered, including the convertible seats, in the same tan colour as the rest of the fleet (pictured in post #5): (Click if for an enlargement)

I should point out that photo is misleading, the seats have not been blue since 2007, they are tan as per an earlier post:

So potentially the op could be correct, if for some reason the seats were configured 3x3 on a previous flight, and not changed back. Can't recall the setup, as most of my qf is 767 by choice, however, is it similar to the old convertible PE. On virgin?

Yeah possible. But would be a very rare event and i doubt the fas wouldn't notice or care.

The aircraft could be configured as all economy, however, in the first post was a comment about a wet towel, and a later post about it being a 2x2 config. Both of these indicate that they were in a business section, such as it is on a 737-400.
