Anyone know why QF825 DRW-BNE was met by 5 ambulances on the tarmac and the airport fire fighters this afternoon? Pax seemed to be held on board for about 15 minutes before leaving via the aero bridge. Paramedics used the stairs at the back of the plane. I had to leave to catch my flight.

Maybe fumes or something similar, or they had the chicken dish?

QF825... perhaps it was repeat occurrence of the pungent nappy in the forward toilet.

A QF flight in Sydney tonight received a similar welcome

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

There is another thread of a QF aircraft having a fire vehicle tail at SYD, wonder if it's the same aircraft as QF825s operating aircraft normally goes to SYD.

Might have had turbulence in flight, which would explain paramedics actually entering the cabin.
Otherwise, they may have been landing with issues, i.e. declared an emergency, which would have meant a standard response of airport firies and about 5 wagons, and a supervisor. But if the landing was without incident normally the units would be cleared before anyone needed contact with the paramedics. Then again you only need one pax having a panic attack (cue scene from Flying High)

We send at least 3 units a day to SYD airport for various issues. Normally pax having medical issues in flight, or ground staff injuries. Probably about 50% would be airside jobs.

1 PAX suffering severe blood loss following on board self harm incident. Required immediate blood transfusion. Unsure of the number of pax involved due to unclear information during flight, which was the reason for so many ambulances.

Interesting. Too bad if you have to clean that up.
Not that the Paras can do a blood transfusion, but can do fluid replacement.
No doubt some other PAX were affected.
In a lot of cases the info from the plane is sketchy, as the message goes through several sets of hands before the Paramedic Controllers get to the job, and if the plane's on final approach, it's not like you can do a call back for more info, lol.

There's more conspiracy theories on here than on Pprune.

VH-OGR was declared a crime scene for a while & as a result was not able to operate on BNE/SYD as planned. Pax travelling on to SYD on the affected flight were transferred to other services.

Thanks for the meaningful and the humorous replies. I wonder if the delay in leaving the aircraft was to officially rule people out as suspects in the crime scene.

Would QF have contingency plans in place\training for staff in such disruptions\crime scene preservation?

Just because a place is a crime scene does not nesessarily mean that there are suspects. I'd say the Police would just need to follow procedures & as this case involved a mobile crime scene with wings & 2 engines they would have had to gather what ever evidence they needed before the crime scene flew away.

I don't think staff of any airline would be trained in 'crime scene preservation' - that would be up to the boys & girls in blue to manage and oversee.

Yeah I suppose so. I just remember a cruise line got in trouble/bad press for not maintaining the crime scene of a drug overdose/death.
