No link i'm afraid. You might have to PM it to a moderator to post. Your 2 posts in 5 years :shock: does not give you privileges to post links I think. ;)

As someone who loves a good frequent flyer calculation, see:

I think you are missing a few variables and options, just off the top of my head;

Instead of a cash vs FF ticket there is a third option;
Convert the points to a gift card, then convert that gift card into a pre paid visa card to then purchase the flight.

Also you need to talk in the example you give with Qantas about classic awards verses ASA's because the earned value on ASA's also affects the overall cost, both in points and SC earn opportunities.

anyway, good place to start :)

am I missing something obvious (very possible) but isn't a SYD-MEL-SYD 16000 points :confused:

SYD-MEL-SYD 16000 points.
I fail to see why anyone would value points less than 1c unless they have no interest in air travel, have collected thousands of points on ccs & consider any redemption as a free gift. I personally will not burn a point unless it is worth 4c or more. A recent redemption of ABX-SYD in Y, SYD-SIN in F, SIN-SYD in J & SYD-ABX in Y gave me a value of 6.475c per point plus a long loooong time in the SYD Flounge.

Hi
I used the points required a while ago (it is an pdated post) however, it's just a matter of submitting the new points into the calculator. Cheers
