Are u in CNS today Markis?

Let me know if you wanna catch up for lunch/beer.

Don't know what part of town you are in dfcatch but I just saw a tweet from Cairns Airport about landslides on Capt Cook Hwy at Buchans Point.

Drive safely around CNS this morning! I was fortunate that it was still just sprinkling when I got to the airport this morning.

Smithfield - as long as Thomatis Ck doesn't flood again this week - then I'm a happy camper. :)

Fine at 5am.... Not so fine at 8am!!

Unless I want to experience the thrill of bumper to bumper no movement traffic.... Oh wait - that's why I don't live in SYD ;)

Oh come on, this is Cairns. Just wait until 8:07am. ;)

Of course, I work in SYD because I can walk to work.

Seriously Medhead - it's not like the old days... If there's a problem on the highway - its gridlock, and the western arterial doesn't help at all.

If it locks up at 7:30am, you've got buckleys till at least after 10 or 11.

It's horrible. But luckily it's only horrible on those cpl days per year...:)

I can second that medhead. Same goes for south side... with only the Bruce Highway in and out, if anything goes wrong on the road, it create absolute chaos and can make a 20 minute drive more than two hours! And for the north side, with the Western Arterial having single-lane sections, I could imagine that would be even worse.

My main point is Thomatis creek doesn't stop you from getting to town.

You need to move to ADL. When I worked there, it'd take an hour if I left home at 8am, 15 minutes if I left at 8:45am.

BTW I was slightly exaggerating with the 7 minute delay. But then it's hardly comparable to the old days as even the highway north was 1 lane back then.

Anyway, you have a new premier. He'll soon fix all the problems.

...... or significantly improve things at the very least.

No, he's the savior of all that ails queensland. He will make the trains run on time, create unlimited coal export capacity, stop the dams from flooding, hold back the tide and fix the traffic issues in Cairns. And that's just before lunch time.

There are two ways to avoid the horrendous  traffic jams in the Far North getting to work on a wet day. One, live in town. Two, don't work. :)

Yep, I'm looking forward to being saved from the flood tax when he announces he won't take the money, as it is against his core values.
