Hi everyone,

As per my previous thread about SYD-LHR.. I have decided to fly Cathay Pacific as I can save myself at least $700 at the moment instead of flying QF, which will allow me to get my return flights plus Iceland flights for less than $2800.

But anyway, my questions are.. what is the minimum amount of hours needed for stopping over in HK to say.. go out of the airport and sight see a little. My partner did it on the way back to SYD from Bangalore.

Otherwise, is it worth stopping over a night in Hong Kong?

Cheers :)

I can't answer this exactly but Hong Kong airport is very efficient, you'll be able to get out and onto the quick Airport Express train in no time. I'd use a few hours to go to Kowloon, the harbour and have a stretch before the long leg to London. Overnighting would be even better, you could hit the markets, shopping centres and food before going up to Victoria Peak.

There's a plethora of threads on things to see and do in HK here, just run a search.

The airport is very efficient and it's around 40mins by train to the city so I would think any kind of transit of 5+ hours would allow time for a quick trip into town.

Thanks eastflyer.. I shall have a look at that plethora of threads :)

Thanks yohy?!, thats what I was mainly worried about.. the amount of time I would need if I didn't stop over overnight..

If you're just heading to Kowloon/Mong Kok area half a day would allow you to do a few things (Tim Ho Wan, Shoe Street and the Harbour).
