Surely it is now now time to change lounge access rules

If the F lounges were restricted to F/CL/P1, I suspect they would be practically deserted most of the time! Personally, I have very rarely encountered anything resembling overcrowding at the existing F lounges.

If the First lounge is for genuine F passengers then I think the Business lounge should be for genuine J passengers. Lets kick all the mere status holding CL, P1, WP and SG riffraff flying in Y out to the airport cafes and McDonalds where they belong.

Sorry to sound harsh, but you are an example of what I mean, 3000 SC does not entitle you to P1, it is through these double SC that QF are creating these false P1's and WP's.

At 3000 SC for the year you will receive all of your bonus points and then the choice of PG or more points, you already have been rewarded. To say that your deserve a higher level is false, unfortunately near enough should not be good enough, once you reach the 3600 requirement I will say congratulations and welcome you into the top tier and all the entitlements that will bring.

Thank goodness you are not in charge of QF loyalty.

Surely, you are joking, have you ever been to BA Concorde at LHR or SQ First at SIN, hardly deserted wastelands.

I think you have completely missed the point of my post. I wasn't saying that I deserved higher benefits - just the benefits to which I have been entitled as a OWE for the past six years - F lounge access.

Why? Because I am calling on QF to stop creating these false status holders?
If you want to be at these levels then put your bums in the seats and do the miles.

As for other posts saying they would take their business to DJ, good luck finding that First lounge with them, they are probably in a worse position, they made me Platinum without me ever sitting in their seats.

Same here. Mind you I have only ever used the MEL F lounge but on the occasions I was there (flying in F for the record) it's been very quiet.

The OP's rant seems to have more to do with the effect on lounge usage of QF's occasional and targeted double SC offers. If so he should be writing to QF complaining about that.

Perhaps Feper travels more frequently on international flights than some of us therefore more likely to encounter a situation where the F lounge is full.

But i must say, i haven't seen it anywhere near full as yet.

Pity a poll can not be made for anecdotal data display.

Here is where you've shot down your own argument. Under your proposal there is no First lounge with Qantas. So tell me again the bit about finding a first lounge with DJ. Since you would remove that as a benefit with QF there would be no difference. So what is the glue that keeps people flying QF under your system? There is none, hence why you don't work for QF loyalty - they are very good at applying the golden handcuffs.

Now to repeat myself, the SIN lounge is an anomaly due to the revised arrangements. So really the basis for the issue raised is false.

I won't say much on the issue as I don't have access to the First lounge anyway.
But what I will say is loyalty and profit is about keeping all your tiers of status holders happy, P1/F flyers don't keep this company afloat, the large(r) proportion of QC, Silver, Gold and Platinum are what keeps a company afloat, if these customers aren't looked after and given benefits they will walk to the multitude of other carriers that will.

Now to repeat myself... My proposal is to create a " true " first lounge, access restricted to passengers in F, CL and P1.
the WP and J and OWE are in another, and QP OWS and Gold in another, and yes stop the double SC.

So wait a minute, on one hand you are complaining about false status holders filling up "your lounge" and you feel they should have put the BIS miles in to deserve access, and yet on the other hand, you accepted a status match, which gave you lounge access as part of that match, without even paying DJ a cent and yet you don't see a problem with that?

I think we "get" your proposal, you just haven't apparently seemed to convince many people of your argument!

And I don't expect to get the backing of the majority, by definition and design this will be apply to a small group only.

Yes - a very small group.

Personally I would have no issue with QF opening a lounge for F/CL above and beyond the current OWE lounge. It would be about the size of a postage stamp though.

Re my earlier point about dropping QF if F lounge access was dropped - yes I wouldn't get F lounge access elsewhere - but if I don't have F lounge access with QF there is no real differentiator between QF and others.

Well it applies to me, as we predominantly travel F (although Qantas seems determined to take that option away from us complain, complain). However I don't have a problem with WPs getting access - I've never had a problem in the lounges. Being in F means you get to book your spa treatment the day before and that is the only bit where extra people in the lounge could be a problem. I don't travel enough to have run across the overcrowding you have probably - LAX was quite bad, but then they are opening a better lounge soon. If anything it is probably CLs who are adding to the overcrowding, as they can bring their whole family in, whereas WPs can only guest 1 person..... :)

harvyk beat me to it!

The OP is a hypocrite.

... Of course thats assuming QF remain in OneWorld, which as the days go on becomes a less probable assumption.
Hmmm ... to put it a more pertinent manner "Of course that's assuming QF leaving OneWorld, which as the days go on becomes infinitesimally less improbable ..."

so we're going to create lounges for F class - which is being ripped out and for top tier passengers - who are leaving in droves?

hang on a sec do you work for QF? :)
