The only reason I used a agent was because i went through all the web sites and got the Best PE price and a agent better matched it.

What was the agents response when you reverted back to them with your issue?

Unfair or not, that's the chain.

if you buy a toaster and it doesn't work, or do you send it direct to the factory or take it back to the shop?

dazz81, we can assume you send it back to the factory?

matt
not saying you can't complain to the agent!! just saw a whole lot of agent bashing there . the itinerary will print the meal description as provided by the carrier. but as I said you certainly can complain to the agent who should then speak to their Qantas rep.

You actually go through warranty which is usually the manufacturer....if my Samsung laptop dies I call Samsung not JB HiFi.

Hi MelUser For YOUR info I HAVE moved on, and DID enjoy Miami in Dec and the destination was enjoyed by everyone, but if you NIT PICK my post and put yourself in MR ordanary peoples shoes sometimes a meal that was promised and was looked forward too and NOT given it was dissapointing, as I stated the post was not for money reason PRICIPLE only, you may go buisness class or first class all the time i am NOT bothered your choice, but what if you were told you were going first class and then put in CATTLE and your booking said FIRSTwould you MOVE on? DONT THINK SO !! Maybe you would put some more energy in to enjoying coach ,IMO?!

The agent only passes on what the airline loads into the system. If you'd bought the ticket online from QF directly or from any other online site (who are just agents anyway) the flights would have displayed the same Meal code.

It's QF that load the meal code. They have the option to load it as 'Food For Purchase' rather than 'Meal', but haven't.

Have to agree with Hvr, the agent is the first point of contact, they made the arrangements and took your money. They are the people you had an agreement with, the airline is mearly the subcontractor.

matt

a travel agent is an agent for the airline. When you complete your sale you have a contract with the airline, not the agent. The airline is not a subcontractor.

If your bags go missing, or your meal is not loaded on the flight, or it is delayed, you deal directly with the airline. If QF states that meals are served they should fix this on their system.

Look forward to a Y meal, on AA? (Insert ?? smiley here.....)

More seriously, What recompense do you want from TA/QF/AA? When you approach them (and I agree you should do this theough the TA as your point of contact with the airline) what do you want them to do for you / about the missed meal?

IMO there are better things to worry about than a missed Y class meal but if you are that aggrieved then you need to tell the TA what you think an acceptable solution is.

There is a big difference between missing a meal and being downgraded for a flight...
