Qantas Chauffeur service - General Questions/Advice

On my way out, I should qualify for "Dubai Connect" as I'm traveling J and the time between flights is around 8. My travel agent has told me she has already added it to the booking but I don't really trust her so can I book/check this with QF somehow- there's nothing online on the booking but maybe worth a call to the Platinum number? Or should I wait another week or two maybe? Just want to make sure I don't end up in Dubai and sit/sleep in the lounge for 8 hours... I know that the entire process will be quite standard for EK but I'm not so sure how QF will handle it.

You can book Dubai Connect from 18th March I believe. It won't be automatically booked for you - you must book it in Manage Your Booking.

Chauffeur Drive will be bookable from 18th March also.

Thanks for that info! Bit late for hotel bookings etc. though... I think I'll just assume the chauffeur drive benefits will be the same as what EK currently offers their J and F customers.

You can book Dubai Connect from 18th March I believe.

Where is this information coming from if I may ask? I just spoke to a lady in the QF Platinum callcenter about both the chauffeur drive and the Dubai Connect accommodation offer and she told me that it all "needs to be signed off" and might or might not be ready in time for my trip on the 4th of April. No word of the 18th as the deadline -would be good to get this confirmed as I don't really fancy sleeping in the lounge for 8 hours. Though I am sure, the new EK First lounge in Dubai will probably not be the worst place in the world to have a nap

Oh- I'm happy to believe you if you've seen it with your own eyes! What always bewilders me is why the heck don't they then share these news with their very own callcenter agents or at least those so-called "supervisors" there? Anyway- I'm happy if this is correct so all good and thanks again for the info

Just went onto my Qantas account and voila, the booking facility for both chauffeur drive and Dubai Connect indeed is now available. I am very impressed with both the site design and the ease of how you put in your details etc. Qantas has done a very neat job with that!

All booked now in my case. I assume if you sign up for Dubai Connect, you don't need to sign up for a Limousine Transfer separately anymore but does anyone know for sure?

There for me as well (Chauffeur drive only at this point as I have yet to book the connecting flight DXB-LCA-DXB where I will need Dubai Connect connecting LCA-DXB-SYD).

Only issue is that there is no way to request a child seat.

I would think it's available on any Business or First Class fare but maybe I'll be corrected... Would be a huge downer if it wasn't, really...

Available on ALL business and First fares, outside 48 hours of departure. So points upgrades are also avail if process <48hrs before the flight departure.

I noticed in SYD there is a 40km limit, had a look in the T&Cs and can't see an answer so does anybody know how much the extra charges are per km over the 40km?

Once a transfer is booked there's no option to change it - only to cancel. Does anyone know if cancelling then allows you to rebook or do you have to call to make changes?

Wow just checked on google maps and my house is 39.8KM from the airport :shock:

So in that case will they use that google maps distance or will they look on the odometer and charge you if they go over the 40km (usually my odometer says more than google maps)?

It will be interesting - I will be asking my regular driver what the distance is on his odometer before then

Although if it is say 2KM different and they charge $2/km - it will still be a lot cheaper than the $115 fee I currently pay...

QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running

Have just made my first booking for the chauffeur drive service.

This shows up as "Customise your journey" & has Chauffeur Drive plus Dubai Connect. It shows just below Contact details, and above the usual section on other options - car hire, paid transfers, experiences, hotels, shows etc.

Then I was able to go ahead & schedule a pickup from home to the airport. My final destination is not Dubai or London, so the next section said I was ineligible for the destination chauffeur. Similarly, not long in Dubai, so not eligible for the Connect.

Easy to use, the final page can be printed & says I will get a confirmation email, plus can send one to someone else.

USA & Johannesburg options not yet loaded.
