Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Kangol - are you travelling in J or F?

I've used AA points also, and have Chauffeur Drive x3 for my trip.

Travelling WLG -> MEL -> DXB -> LHR on QF, booked with AA points through AA. I have about 23hrs 55 min layover in MEL before the flight to DXB, and have confirmed/booked CD for depature in WLG, arrival in MEL and departure in MEL (all were options in MMB).

Perhaps give them a call and see?

Whoops forgot to mention, I'm in J. No F on these refurbed 747s.
I might wait until July and check and if nothing changes, I'll ring them.
Interesting how no mileage limits are mentioned about any of the US destinations yet (or Santiago or Johannesburg for that matter). I'm guessing the details are probably still being finalised.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Will they provide this service if you are travelling BNE-LAX via SYD?

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Possibly?

As per my post on the previous page, I'm travelling WLG / MEL / DXB / LHR / DUB, with QF CD at WLG and arrival and departure at MEL. - All were options on MMB.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Have tried several times in the last couple of days to book Chauffeur Drive (HBA/DXB/FCO) without success. The screen keeps flashing "Unexpected system error. Please contact your system admininstrator."

I just rang Qantas to enquire, and they are apparently having this (technical) problem with a few people and Qantas is working to fix it.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

The destinations to be offered from July 1st have the following distance based in mileage.

SCL = 45miles
LAX/JFK = 60miles
DFW = 70miles
JNB = 110miles

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Yes, you will get transfers in both BNE and LAX (provided you're travelling after 1 July).

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Friends

I am travelling on QF-numbered EK flights to AMS via DXB.

It is an interesting observation here that I could request these Chauffer Drive on either QF or EK's MMB.

It appears EK systems could handle QF-issued tickets for these services as well.

Now, just a thought.

Are the CD services one and the same ?

Given that EK has been doing this for much longer than QF, wouldn't it be more "oiled" than QF with less chance of a hiccup ?

Would you care either way: QF or EK ?

Thanks

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Just changed my flights to connect via Melbourne to Dubai rather than going straight from Sydney (which means a longer and more worth while "Dubai connect" time in Dubai, an emptier plane with much more chances for an upgrade to F and extra SCs ;)) and realized that the system doesn't allow you to book the chauffeur drive pickup for anything less than 2:30 hours prior to departure.

Makes sense for international flights but not if you're connecting on a domestic flight first! Just called QF and after an endless wait, I've been told they can't change it. Highly annoying- two hours in the Dom lounge for me! :evil:

Haven't booked mine yet but when you book it don't you get a confirmation email from the provider? Could you arrange different times with them?

I only received a confirmation email from "Donotreply@Qantas" and there is no info on the operating company at all. Was the same for all my chauffeur drive bookings, whether in Australia, Germany or Dubai.

that is annoying, I would like to know which company is going to pick me up and some contact details just in case something happens on the day and they don't show up or if I'm running a bit late... Or like in your case to tell them they can wait an extra hour with picking you up...

On the other hand you can ask to be put on an earlier flight at check-in in SYD and extend your Flounge time in MEL ;)

I first thought I'd just cab it (work pays anyway) but then had that very same idea :p

1) There is no "change" button, only "cancel" and then re-book another time.

2) There is no automatic email confirmation from QF; The option is there but you need to select (or print) it.

3) You can nominate a pick up time from a drop down list (2.5, 3, 3.5 hrs.... before departure time)

Yea, and 2.5 hours prior is the closest you can select, even if you're connecting domestically first. I bet that QF will change that sooner or later. Probably too late for me though!

According to the QF website, the supplier in Australia is Equity Transport (Chauffeur Drive | Qantas)

+Qantas Chauffeured Transfers around Australia are operated by Equity Transport Limited ABN 52 010 237 108. Complimentary First and Business Transfers are operated by various suppliers globally.
#Luxury sedans are only available in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Mercedes and BMW requests incur a $20.00 premium.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

I note that each pax can have their own car. Does this mean that say for instance ( in LHR) that two pax travelling in F could each get a car and add a "Guest" to the trip? I note that there is a 2 pax maximum in some (Australian) cities. But on initial inspection there seems not to be the same restriction in London.
I only ask because mrs GPH and i will be entitled to this service on our next trip to LHR. We will have two other family members travelling with us on the same flight. ( not eligible for chauffeur drive) they will need an airport transfer otherwise .
So far, even the QF call centre staff are not fully au fait with the T&C.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

You might want to separate the pnrs to achieve that. Or tell them at booking you need 2 cars due to the amount of luggage....
