Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Do we know when it'll be possible to add this to future USA bookings?

Also, what's the distance limitation in Perth?

Thanks

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

1) There is no "change" button, only "cancel" and then re-book another time.

Curious if you've actually tested this?
I have a booking I need to change but I'm scared if I cancel it won't let me rebook!

Yes, I have changed it .... twice now

Now I want to go in early to try the EK lounges on a QF ticket, courtesy of my SG card.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

I note that each pax can have their own car.

This seems crazy to me - if I have extra luggage I get charged but I can get two cars and split the luggage and not get charged?

I now have another QF trip via DXB in June so will be testing it then - just me travelling but via MEL first (SYD-MEL-LHR) - need actually when doing price comparisons to factor in a saving on QF of $400+

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Out of curiousity, what sort of vehicles are generally used? I notice in the T&C's it refers to needing to pay a premium if you want a Mercedes or BMW - so it is mostly Calais / Statesman etc?

How interesting the ABN quoted for Equity Transport is the same as the Valet parking provider in Perth.

Same here, knowing SWMBO's packing habits we will have to book two cars

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

What are the chance of them expanding this to their other Intl destinations as the year progresses? They would need to to match Emirates.

And are BMW or Benz the norm in UK?

Do you mean to international destinations closer than the 12 hour (or whatever it is) minimum that's been set? Doubtful, as it would include everything from NZ to HNL to every Asian destination.

Would be very expensive.

In reality, under the MCA they're probably only obliged to offer it on any service competing with/connecting to an EK codeshare in order to ensure product consistency. As the majority of these situations involve a trip at least 12 hrs or longer they can set that flight duration as the threshold (hence why it will extend to the SCL, JNB and US routes as of July) and choose not to offer it where they wouldn't be competing with EK anyway - it's all about the bottom line!

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

BMW and Merc are definitely a lot cheaper in the UK. My experience has flipped between an S class Merc and a Merc Van...

Here I would be expecting a Calais or equivalent. I am not sure if the drivers will be 100% dedicated to this company and jobs might get passed off to other drivers. My usual driver in MEL has a 7 series BMW but often I am picked up by someone in a Calais (which is a better look when arriving at the office).

Thinking more SIN and other destinations that EK fly to ex AU and perhaps HKK because of the 1st class service on the A380.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Sorry quick question re: the dubai connect and chauffeur service. I've booked a trip to Europe in June and have booked the chauffeur service to/from melbourne and to/from European destination. I've also requested the Dubai connect as we are only "passing" through (stop over of 10hours). Do I then need to book the chauffeur service in Dubai as well or does requesting Dubai connect automatically organise the pick up and drop off in Dubai. Does anyone know where they tend to put you up?
Thanks. Very much looking forward to trying out this new arrangement with Mrs B.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

It would be a real enhancement if QF provides this chauffeur service AFTER the AA domestic connection post LAX/DFW.

As it is now, I could ask for a service post LAX arrival but if I were to take an AA connection to ORD, I will have nothing.

Thoughts ?

According to a recent QF email, no need to book the chauffeur service for Dubai connect. It will be provided automatically.

Oh, good! Thanks for that info- I assumed this would be the case but good to know I won't stand there in DXB without a transfer
