Re: Just booked on one of the first QF services through Dubai and lots of questions r

Just went onto my Qantas account and voila, the booking facility for both chauffeur drive and Dubai Connect indeed is now available. I am very impressed with both the site design and the ease of how you put in your details etc. Qantas has done a very neat job with that!

All booked now in my case. I assume if you sign up for Dubai Connect, you don't need to sign up for a Limousine Transfer separately anymore but does anyone know for sure?

Great to hear it's all coming together :) Out of a matter of interest, which hotel are you booked into for the Dubai Connect service?

No opions for me for ex AKL flights¹, although there are listed as eligible ...

Should be as follows:

Qantas and Emirates customers will be accommodated at the same hotel accommodation.

First and Business: Le Meridien Dubai Airport
Premium Economy and Economy: Copthorne Airport Hotel

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

damn July 2013. I am going to LAX twice between March and July.... boohoo :(

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

I booked them for our trip in May, but we are just outside the 40km, so not sure what the extra will be, might have to call and see.

I wounder will it make any difference in that we are only using one of the two cars we are entitled to use as there are two traveling, one in J and one in F on the way out and two in J on the way back.

Also as the flight back is via MEL there was no problem booking the pickup from SYD T3 as it came up automatically.

Re: Just booked on one of the first QF services through Dubai and lots of questions r

Will let me book a drop off and pickup in SYD for our overnight, as well as for a terminal change in LHR, but won't let me book a pickup in Darwin.

Why oh why Qantas don't you consider all the Capital cities

Doesn't tell you in the confirmation but I assume it will be the Le Meridien as for EK pax as well. Apparently, you will get a letter handed in flight with vouchers and further details- that's what it said in the terms and conditions.

Re: Just booked on one of the first QF services through Dubai and lots of questions r

I wonder why they take you to the off-site hotels, rather than book you into the transit hotel which is located in the terminal?

I've got a 10 hour overnight transit there and I'm certainly not interested in having to waste time going through immigration inbound, road transport to and from hotel, immigration outbound, etc. I'm just going to stay at the transit hotel and maximise sleep time!

Good point! My layover is less than eight hours but I still wanna do it. And even if it's only so that I can post a detailed trip report on the new Qantas/Emirates experience on this website upon my arrival! :p

Re: Just booked on one of the first QF services through Dubai and lots of questions r

Hmmm is this 40km limit as the crow flies or via road? Google maps has me at 44.5km :/

Re: Just booked on one of the first QF services through Dubai and lots of questions r

Last year I used a chauffeur drive voucher from QF. Their system looked at the distance to the post office of the address given. So this was going to mean a few km difference & I was needing to pay a few dollars extra - around $7.50 or less, iirc.

We were also looking at swinging by to pick up Katie & Mr Katie. Where this took us off the direct road to the airport it was quoted at a hourly rate or part thereof. Something like $60/hr.

So if we had done all this it would have cost $7.50 plus $15 plus the voucher to get the 3 of us to the airport.

As I am just in one suburb by 300m, & not really close to the post office, I phoned back & adjusted the name of the suburb plus said why the adjustment. No worries, recalculated at no extra cost, only voucher needed for my pickup :).

In all I spoke with 3 different people in I think 3 different state offices where the limos operate from. Same drift from all of them. Easy to deal with, where the address is closer to the adjoining suburb extra fees didn't kick in, and the driver would work out extras on the day with what the reality of the situation was. He's the one any extra is paid to. If I exaggerated, he'd know.

Edit before posting
Thinking back some more on this, I think one office went by post office & one used a sat nav type driving distance calculator.

Hello all,

The booking engine allows you to select from a variety of departure pickup times depending on your distance and tendency to like running through airports. There doesn't seem to be a arrival pickup time choice, presumably the arrival pickup is based on landing time plus allowance to get throguh the formalities.

Is anyone familar with these car servcies and know if it is possible to have a delayed pickup at the arrival point to allow for having a shower etc?

thanks

David

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Wow. Just made it on that score 39 klm door to door (BNE)

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Used this for the first time today and was pretty impressed, fairly user-friendly - except the entering of your address information seemed a bit vague.

and likewise no time selection for arrivals so I guess it is a 'monitored' service but that can vary greatly especially if you arrive pre 9am in the rush.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

:( Looking at my booking on QF16 LAX to MEL Via BNE in J i don't get the option for Chauffeur drive. Am i too early? Are one way flights eligible?

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Chauffer drive doesn't begin for USA flights until July I think.

I would imagine one way flights are eligible, there is no specific clause saying they are not. When is your flight? If it's on or after 1 July 2013 you should be fine:

Chauffeur Drive | Qantas

I have a MEL-SYD connecting to QF7 in Jan 2014 and the option is not available on MMB for me...
Then again I used my AA miles (both are on QF flight numbers) and now I see this:

1. Chauffeur Drive is only available in selected locations to customers holding tickets with confirmed reservations in First or Business on eligible Qantas or Emirates operated flights. Reservations for Chauffeur Drive through Qantas can only be made for flights booked as part of a Qantas ticket (starting with ticket number 081), at destinations where the Chauffer Drive service is offered. Passengers travelling on Emirates tickets (starting with ticket number 176) should make reservations through Emirates.

Say it isn't so :(

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Kangol - are you travelling in J or F?

I've used AA points also, and have Chauffeur Drive x3 for my trip.

Travelling WLG -> MEL -> DXB -> LHR on QF, booked with AA points through AA. I have about 23hrs 55 min layover in MEL before the flight to DXB, and have confirmed/booked CD for depature in WLG, arrival in MEL and departure in MEL (all were options in MMB).

Perhaps give them a call and see?
