Vinomofo said:The Black Market buying brigade present to you: a super premium, $100 Shiraz that will blow...your...socks off! Made from ancient 120-plus year old Barossa vines, this vintage has only been great enough to make this rare red twice since the turn of the millenium. You know what the Black Market is by now, and although black, it's the brightest part of your day.
So what we can tell you is:
- This is some epically dense juice, all ripe plums, spice and chocolate wrapped up in a velvet blanket of fine French oak
- It’s been rated 94pts by James Halliday with a gushing write-up
- Like a powerful European, this has been aged five years in oak before bottling and is all the better for it
- This is an impressive wine, made for those who enjoy bold flavours and wines that pack a serious punch
- You'll need to decant this one to open it up
- It's an unbelievable $70 off per bottle!
- You won't want to miss it.
James Halliday - Published on 17 Jul 2012 said:Excellent colour for a wine rising six years old; made from 126-year-old vines, matured for two years in new and second-use French and American oak before being transferred to older oak for a further three years in oak; the oak certainly makes its mark with a strong vanilla understory, the tannins are likewise fully softened, both aspects reflecting the long period in oak. Would less have been better? Only made twice since 2000.

Hewitson Private Cellar Barossa Valley Shiraz Mourvedre
Never tried it myself so can't recommend jumping straight to a magnum. Although they might be nice for giving as Xmas pressies.

I got some of that, at a similar price, through a different source. Whilst it's perfectly drinkable, it isn't worth the RRP they're touting. I don't think it's worth significantly more than what they're offering it at.
