I usually like to save them but there are times where points make sense, when the HIX is $310 one tends to look around, and finds some incredible value, I think I will take the premier room, who needs a suite with lounge access etc at the same price when it comes to points .

Did they honour it without question? Seems to be available in November only, then back to standard award offerings. I've had one or two 'negotiations' at check-in with that hotel!

They gave me a letter at checkin with all the details, as high occupancy is pushing up the prices, the reimbursement covers the extras I suspect given the hotel is now full, by advertising the suite on points they probably get close to the advertised $580 a night from IHG when occupancy is over 90%. Smart yield manager.

Well... this availability 'mysteriously' changes for points bookings from 1 DEC 2013 And there is good regular rate room availability on most days until then. But whatever the reason, is was a nice bargain! I just wish all the other IHG hotels would honour it when 'club' rooms come up for standard points redemptions. I've been turned down by a few at such times at check-in.

The club reminds me very much of the ADL IC, both in food offerings and ambiance, both essentially fill a void in an Atrium, although the Singapore lounge has more floors above it (5 or so in total). Food options for coughtails are good, specifically chicken wings, a couple of other hot dishes and the normal cold serves like salad and cheese plate, the stand out is the Sushi, very tasty and well made whilst not being overly chilled. For a Holiday Inn this is a standout, the decor and service really make it more of an ageing IC and I am unhappy it has taken me 13 years to return!

LOL, considering rooms are $500 a night on average tonight, $210 of points is good value, not withstanding the benefit of lounge access, breakfast etc.

The fact those 35000 points were from a recent stay in Melbourne at $100 for the night makes it oh so much sweeter

You can buy points for $35 USD per 5000 using the points plus cash reward booking and cancel method, I normally value them at that rate but recently IHG had a points sale that dropped them to the newer valuation.

Isnt that $245 worth of points? And which rooms were $500/night on average? The most expensive?

But you obviously generate a lot of points via hotel stays so 35,000 points to you is nothing. Not everyone is the same.

The cheapest IHG room at one stage was the HIX at $350+++, and yet that did not last long, with all IHG properties sold out mid week :evil:
