Hope it works out ok sorry to hear it. As I write this I myself am sitting in a hospital room where my daughter has been admitted for the past week! Thank god she is slowly getting better

They can. My son is good in the kitchen. Cooks Asian influence better than me. But he works in a manual job from 8.30 until 5.30 and husband works way more than 40 hours a week as he's self employed. Just helps me to know they won't be too stuffed at the end of the day to go shopping and then cook. I can then relax and not feel guilty. They are on the own for the weekends.

Don't doubt it. They're obviously lucky to have you look after them so well.

We tried leaving frozen meals for our 3 sons when we travelled but when we returned the freezer was usually still full. The food in the fridge was what we left them prior to departure. However it did contain a healthy stock of beer (their beer...mine was gone)
The wheelie bin was usually full of pizza boxes, macca, KFC etc packets. Now they have all left home I don't have to worry (but their Mother still does)

That will no doubt happen in July when Mr and Pushka travel to the Eastern Med. Mr Pushka is home this time so I'm expecting the food to go. He's not a fast foodie.

Thankyou!

I remember those days (when my parents travelled overseas every year), we either had a live-in housekeeper or were old enough to fend for ourselves. Back then (70's) the nearest fast food outlet was 8kms away. We lived out of the freezer as well. Thanks for the memories Pushka. They'll be just fine.

Being in the situation right now, I can vouch for living out of the freezer!

Don't often get take out as the freezer food plus whatever I cook is fine. When the folks are away, it's also an opportunity to try cooking different things that I wouldn't normally do or try with them around.

Lordy, that makes me feel soooo old. :p

When I was 17+ my parents left me the fridge. Dad took a job in Europe, mum went with him, three big brothers were already long gone so I got the house:D Some of the best years of my life ;):D

It may surprise many of you to learn that I am actually quite a good cook.

Unfortunately I am rarely "at home" to cook, and when I do, I usually have people cook for me (not by choice), but I enjoy cooking immensely when I get the chance.

Next do, we need to have you cook for us ;)

"Even better"... maybe we should have an AFF do where instead of bringing a plate, we bring ingredients, and we all cook a dish. (The venue choice would need to be someone who has a spectacular kitchen...)

Well my house is out. You can hardly fit 2 people in the kitchen at one time.

And I'm willing to bet they won't be. I've done it before. They'll be eaten. :p

Mum freezes meals for me which I bring to Brisbane to get through the first 2-3 days of the week.

Great idea and fully appreciated. I don't have the time or the motivation for cooking.

Exactly. It just helps out a little. And then there's the shopping as well.
