With my newly minted Diamond status, I note that I have 4 upgrades to use before 29 Feb. I gather this applies to 4 stays rather than simply 4 nights.

What are people's experiences like using these? I may be trying in HK/Macau just to use them up.

4 stay, each stay can be up to 7 nights.
I just used one at Grand Hyatt Melbourne, it seems some hotels will upgrade you further upon arrival ( GH Mel didn't and they aren't inclined or supposed to)
Have to call centre to use one, and it can only be on the base suite. So if a base level is not available on your stay, i've been told the computer system won't let phone agents book it (I tried to get them to let me us a suite voucher on a day the base wasn't left in SIN this month) so I had to change my dates.

Thanks for the tip. What does Hyatt normally call their entry level suite?

Has anyone been able to use these upgrades at Park Hyatt in MEL or SYD?

Have used my new Diamond status for the first time today. Called GoldPassport to book three nights at Hyatt Regency and got suite upgrade confirmed. Very nice and friendly service. So far so good...

Which property was that?

It was my first choice but the price ($HKD1,000 more per night) discouraged me.

I assume GH suites are much nicer...

Just my opinion :). Having said that, HR is more convenient if you're planning to spend more time on the Kowloon side or want to use Airport Express shuttle.

Entry level suite has generally been the first one listed in the suites section on the individual property's website. Often, its as simple as Grand Suite (for a GH) or Park Suite (for a PH).

I just confirmed an upgrade for next week at the PH MEL (and also one at the GH MEL).

Appears as though PH SYD is excluded and DSUs can't be used (Hyatt Gold Passport - Membership Levels)

Call the Australian number. From what I can gather, as opposed to a direct Diamind line, Australians just go through our usual call centre. They were very helpful when I called through.

Thanks - good to hear. No email address I can use by any chance?

There is no point using a DSU at the PH MEL. The Club Deluxe you receive as a Diamond is the same size, if not larger, without the glass door.

If you're interested in accurate info then FT is far more useful than AFF. In fact, there's a wiki listing the specific suites for each property.

I thought that was the case from what I read. I guess the only reason I used an upgrade was given I had 4 to use by the end of February, I wasn't going to have a chance to use more. I'll attempt to use the remaining 2 I have on stays I have planned later in the year but it's more of a why not for the PH MEL stay.

I haven't read anything that has confirmed what will happen post March 1 for those matched, but does anything think there's a chance those who got matched won't receive 4 more DSUs?

I heard that we will be getting the 4 DSU's as Hyatt said members will get all benefits. Who knows what happens with Hyatt IT too...

I've only ever had one of the Diplomatic or Ambassador suites. Without a DSU, that is.

Oh, and it's Hyatt Hotel Canberra.

Just a free upgrade as Diamond? Nice.

BTW, I made a booking as a treat for my parents under my account to use a DSU. Will Hyatt mind them checking in? I put a note in the 'additional comments' section on the online reservation giving their names and saying they will check in.

Strictly against the T/Cs. DSUs are for the sole use for the member. If the hotel asks for ID they won't be allowed to check into the suite or charged RACK for the suite and the DSU returned.

The work around is for you to check them in.
