Add in the NZ Herald and online this morning saying all Jetstar NZ domestic only flights come with min 400 QFF points, previously was an option at extra cost (doesn't apply to flights connecting to International flights). Competition for NZ is good and Jetstar NZ seems fine when I've flown with them, provided you check in on time!

Another wallop for Air NZ. Ouch.
Now all QF/AA need to do is formally announce their heavily rumored AKL - US route!

This is a positive step. Though the starter fares still won't include status credits.

At 400 points per flight a redemption to Denmark would be a long way off ;)

How many SCs will these earn? 5?

So Kiwis Can earn points but not status credits when flying on JQ in NZ with out the need to buy a bundle, unless they want status credits where as us Ozzies still need to buy a bundle should we want to earn points when flying on JQ in Australia.

How very un Australian IMHO.

It's great to see that QF are turning their attention towards the NZ market in a positive way. First we had status matches for NZ residents, then the recent Jetstar NZ announcements and of course there are rumours of QF or AA flying AKL-USA. This is great to see, and no doubt is providing the Air NZ board with a bit of a reality check!

Air NZ has one of the worst frequent flyer programs in the world IMHO, so QF is definitely in a position to market themselves as a good alternative to Airpoints. This is a step in the right direction.

Zero status credits on Starter fares, but the bundles will continue to earn at current rates.

This is great news, I generally use Jetstar for domestic NZ flights so getting points without a bundle is most welcome. I'll likely still buy the bundle as my work will pay for it. As others have mentioned if they provide lounge access at Auckland and Wellington it will be even better.

Has anyone noticed that a QF plat or plat one would earn 900 points (assuming the 100% status bonus applies) on JQ NZ domestic for a starter plus fare? Compared to QF domestic in "Economy" which only earns 800 and is a lot more expensive.

Good one QF!

I have amended the thread title to reflect that the new base fares do not come with status credits, that's still an extra.

Is that right? Great news!

I have a booking in starter plus with Jetstar from Wellington to Christchurch next March. I have searched both these forums and the QF/JQ websites and I cant see a definitive answer whether a Qantas Gold FF has any lounge access in Wellington.

I am aware that I will earn FF points and Qantas SC for this flight.

Can anyone help?

No lounge access for any Jetstar NZ domestic flights.

Yeah about 7 years too late. They closed the Qantas Clubs in AKL/WLG/CHC domestic terminals back in Dec 2009. Until that point it had been access as usual after QF NZ routes were converted to JQ. They were decent sized lounges, with as few customers as Pacific Blue planes at the time!
