It looks like Novotel now have some privileges "At Novotel, enjoy additional VIP privileges from Gold status upwards."

The various status levels in the Le Club Accorhotels loyalty program and their privileges

Still a few hotels that do not participate though.

Just checked into Sofitel Melbourne. Got a room upgrade and a voucher for a couple of free drinks which is cool.

But in our room there were strawberries and a bottle of champagne on ice. The champagne isn't the one from the mini bar so we aren't sure if its a free gift or not!?

thoughts?

On my last 3 or so stays at Sofitel Melbourne I have received a room upgrade, voucher for free drink, and in the room bottled water, fruit plate, small box of chocolates and a welcome card. I has been some years since I received complimentary alcohol in the room at the Sofitel (a few years back used to receive a bottle of wine).
I would be assuming it is complimentary - was there a card with it? If unsure give the reception a call.

If its not a gift and you drink it you'll be charged right?

So just give them a call, if its a gift you'll know for sure, if its not, you won't be charged, providing you haven't touched anything ;)

Sofitel Macau & Manila....it is a gift. I had had fruit & red wine mostly but it is a gift...would check if concerned

So apparently it was a complimentary gift! Very impressed. Especially as I booked the room as one of lastminutes secret deals!

Sofitel Melbourne have always had the best benefits of any Accor in Australia...usually upgrades, drink vouchers, fruit, champagne and more can be given! Enjoy!

It needs to be reiterated that Sofitels are among the few [-]ADV+[/-] Accor properties that have documented possible benefits beyond additional points.

When I get to that price range I tend to put my money toward Hilton where the major (to me) benefits are guaranteed.

You always have to ask and generally need to be staying at the same places over and over. If I stay somewhere new I normally get nothing. If I have stayed several times I get looked after pretty well. Still need to ask though.

What benefits are you referring to?

Yes. Adv+ makes no difference to what you get (adds meal discount though) or how your treated. Its the Le Club Platinum associated with your Adv+ membership that makes a difference. So unless there is value in the meal discount, you don't need Adv+ just Le Club.

ADV+? Think you might mean Le Club!
It was a Freudian slip as I had Adv+ and used Accor for quite a few years. However, in relation to this thread:

- Le Club

What benefits are you referring to?
As a HHonors Diamond I am guaranteed at any Hilton Family property where the facility exists:

Complimentary Internet,
Complimentary Lounge Access,
Complimentary Continental Breakfast,
50% bonus point points earn per USD,
Complimentary access to health club or fitness centre,
1000 Bonus points per stay (100 at Hampton Inns).

There there's the "Double Dip" - at Hilton Hotels I also can also choose between 1000 QFF( or Velocity) points or earning an addional 50% HHonors points.

With room upgrades, do you guys reuest them before hand or just turn up on the day of check in and ask for one? I have a reservation with Sofitel Wentworth Syd next week and was just wondering.

you can do either, there is no guarantee you'll get it. It's "subject to availability". I had asked for it in advance once for Sofitel Saigon and got nothing, then last month did not ask for it for VIE Hotel Bangkok but was upgraded to a suite automatically upon check in.

Hope it will work for you with Sofitel Wentworth as their standard rooms a bit underwhelming

I booked an el-cheapo at the Mercure in Brissie ($145) and on checking in I received an upgrade to the Pullman, also in the same complex and an upgrade to a corner room ( much larger room), high floor etc, was offered comp late checkout till 4.00pm,( without asking), given a drinks voucher for the bar downstairs. Went out for dinner and got back to my room and found a good quality bottle of red on my bedside table.

Very impressed, PRAISE WHERE PRAISE IS DUE. put **** where **** is due.

Thanks to Mercure/Pullman .

Oops, I have been censored but you know what I mean.

I booked a garden view room and got upgraded to a junior suite at the Sydney Sofitel. Fantastic service so far.

Pullman Brisbane was FANTASTIC. Booked junior suite upgraded to presidential suite with a lovely bottle of red as a welcome gift. Late checkout till 4pm ( was asked would I like 6pm ) and all offered at check in without asking!!

Exec lounge with good selection of canapés and even better breakfast this place really looked after this platinum member.

Cheers Nate
