Bugger all from MGallery Harbour Rocks Hotel in Sydney. When I enquired about at least a couple of drink vouchers, I was met with complete bemusement. Later on a complementary bottle of wine was sent to our room which I suspect was an admission of guilt. The point is that we shouldn't be having to ask for these privileges in the first place.

I received an upgrade to a king suite at Mecure Charlestown; junior suite at Pullman Cairns international last weekend, plus fruit plate and drink voucher.

No you shouldn't need to ask. I wouldn't call the frequency of your business recognised when it isn't automatic. However, even the listing of benefits page specifically says that the benefits are upon request and dependent on availability. That's why I always ask when I make the initial booking and again when I arrive. I find it a bit irritating to have to do this though. Presenting my card should be enough. In fact they should be aware without me even pulling it out.

Gold and Platinum holders are supposed to receive a "welcome gift" (usually fruit or wine) and complementary drinks + room upgrades and late check outs (subject to availability) at Sofitels, Pullmans and MGallery Hotels. Our loyalty should be recognised discreetly and without specifically being asked to request it, but it seems that a lot of Accor hotels are rather slack about this. I think this particularly applies to the more touristy hotels rather than business-orientated hotels.
Nowhere in the terms and conditions does it say that we have to request these benefits but we are advised to show our Le Club cards on check in which I always do. The best hotels already know who you are.

We got outstanding service at MGallery St Moritz Hotel in Queenstown NZ recently so some are clearly on the ball.

With past experiences in this thread, is it required to request at Sofitel Melbourne?

Sofitel Wentworth Sydney - small box of chocolates and drink vouchers on check in. Plate of chocolates, macaroons, biscuits, cake (8 or 10 pieces) etc in room along with bottle of sparkling and bottle of still water. Two more bottles of water at the turndown service. Late check out until 1400. Was offered a room upgrade for $40 but didn't take it. Our room was on top floor and looked recently refurbished.

interesting, if a room upgrade was available it should have been free. Nice inclusions though.

I'm at the Pullman Sydney (Hyde Park). Got a room upgrade, after asking, and a drink voucher. No executive lounge. Doesn't exist. Not overly welcoming.

First time here. At the Pullman Auckland I always get all this plus complimentary water and chocolates in the room. Lounge access, late checkout.

Whats happened to the Exec lounge - I've stayed there 3 times since it became Pullman and it's had an exec lounge every time - last stay was January and I'm there again next month.

I've really enjoyed staying there. Always felt really welcome.

They said the exec lounge is no more when I checked in. I have seen notices around about renovations. Maybe it's temporary but that's not how it was portrayed.

Maybe I am fussy, but I am likely to go back to where I normally stay and do get a very warm welcome and am made to feel like I'm not just another money earner.

I stayed at Pullman Sydney over Anzac Day period. No room upgrade but got a 3pm checkout, drinks vouchers at the bar, complementary bottled water and chocolates in the room.

I thought one of the main benefits of Accor Plat is that it gives you something in common with a lot of the travelling world, the same Accor status LOL

Just stayed one night at the Grand Mercure Apartments.

We booked not the cheapest room but I think it was the second cheapest room with breakfast included. When we checked in we asked if we are entitled to anything because we have Platinum status. The girl did not know, but she asked the duty manager and he instantly upgraded us to a 'room with a view' which was a huge apartment on the 8[SUP]th[/SUP] floor. It was a large deluxe apartment style room, with a shower and bath, kitchen, very large balcony with an outdoor spa and water views of Hobart harbour.

That was a great upgrade.

UPDATE - chagned from Mecure Hadleys to Grand Mercure Apartments
