Accor - Platinum Benefits?

Mercure Raspail Montaparnasse, Paris

Desk staff tells me on the third day of my stay that the mini-bar (upto 4 items) is complementary!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And this was only after I noticed on the third day that 2 items were missing (after cleaning) and so I advised the desk staff that they were gone. Don't worry sir I was told they are free. Puzzled I ask why, to then be told that the minibar (4 items) was free with my room. Was not told on check in, and there was nothing in the room either. Obviously one was just meant to know!!!

Anymore experience with the Sofitel on Collins, Melbourne?

Considering booking a stay here in October

Nate

I am Adv+ Platinum, would it be reasonable to expect an upgrade at the Pullman in Brisbane if I book there? I was going to book at the Sofitel but it says that the Le Accor Club cards are not accepted there.

I've been upgraded there when using my free night. Just ask if they don't offer

Cheers! I am going to use my free night & maybe a couple of extra nights. I'll most certainly ask if they don't offer.

Here are my platinum benefits from the Sofitel Wentworth Sydney this week :) Also got 2 bottles of water - although when I was last there in May it was 1 bottle of water + 1 bottle of red wine.

I was also given an Accor luggage tag. But despite all this they still couldn't clean my room before 3.30pm (even though I went out at 8.45am) :(

Now trying to decide where to stay for my next visit to Sydney - do I want more chocolate or do I want to come back to a clean room

I am normal Platinum and I get an upgrade everytime. I even get upgraded from the Mercure to the Pullman. (These 2 hotels are in the same complex). They will normally say on checkin that I am being given an upgrade but if they don't just ask.

I stayed at Mercure Sydney a few weeks ago with accor platinum (one of the free links, not earned) and got upgraded to privelege room with free internet and chocolate. Points posted straight away.

Hmm may have to rethink my Accor hatred ....

Platinum at the Pullman Hyde Park - Had to fight for an upgrade, was offered a park view with 2 double beds despite the availability of a park view king, queen, and suite - was told $35 p/h for late check out after 11:30, and had to fight with them again just to get 2pm check out. Staff were arrogant and rude, clearly had little care for loyalty. Checked into the Ibis the next day, had my same room, they knew who I was, they had a welcome note, welcome gift, welcome drink all waiting in the room as well as discount vouchers for breakfast.

Stayed at the sofitel wentworth Sydney on 9th October. Upon checkin presented both my advantage plus and platinum le club cards. I asked what benefits were available and receptionist said that none were as the sofitel Sydney was no longer part of the program. I should check the website. I checked and under the list of excluded hotels were the Menzies and novatel Sydney. I went back to reception, different girl, who checked with management and came back and said "the website is wrong and is currently being updated - we do not offer platinum benefits"! Needless to say not impressed and will not be renewing advantage plus next year and will continue to use my club Carlson and spg privileges instead.

Wow - if that is the case I won't be staying any more. Just booked for Dec and booked thinking I will get platinum benefits.

Yes I made the error while at the Novotel in Hong Kong that the platinum privileges were across all brands, was directed to website where it states Sofitel, Pullman and Mgallery only entitled to privileges unless on the excluded list (another web page link) on which the wentworth was not listed. I had not stayed at an accor hotel for quite some years as we had been travelling mainly to the US and was not impressed when we had previously stayed at accor properties. I found the staff at the Wentworth very unhelpful and in the case of the, in the restaurants very poor although they were nice, their system didn't seem to work. Long wait to sit, order, get a drink, get the bill, seem to have the staff just don't seem to be well trained. For a five star property I found the service levels lacking. As for the Novotel in Hong Kong, staff were very pleasant, efficient and professional and the restaurant food great.
I would ring and check if the information I received was correct. I would be very interested in your answer.

The wentworth is owned by the same group that owns Gold Coast and Brisbane Sofitels...and the latter two do not participate in Le Club...Accor is best group to offer all sorts of dodgy programs with all these fine prints...I am aware some members feel this is a great program but I hardly see value unless I am located in a place where I can use the Advantage plus card and travel to properties where the benefits are maximum. I travel all around the globe and an SPG membership is fantastic.

It looks like Novotel now have some privileges "At Novotel, enjoy additional VIP privileges from Gold status upwards."

The various status levels in the Le Club Accorhotels loyalty program and their privileges

Still a few hotels that do not participate though.

Stayed at the Novotel Twin waters for a couple of nights over school holidays and NO Plat recognition at all. Sent a complaint email to hotel as we also had some noise issues until around midnight and NO reply.

Not sure if Accor makes the grade for me, problem is they have some hotels in good locations for me and the sales they have are really good, just the loyalty side of things is poor (so far).

Have a couple of stays at the Bris Pullman, will see how that goes.

Interesting.. was just about to book 4 nights at Sofitel Wentworth over Christmas/New Year!

I'm also about to book accomm for my next SYD trip and this news has removed the Wentworth from my list of possibles.

thanks for the infor as I was looking for a Sofitel in Sydney due to sales and bonus points so guess that's out
Just stayed at The Sebel apartments in Coolangatta and was very happy - points posted after checkout

I was also looking at Sofitel in Sydney for a stay next month. It is now off the list and I will stick with the IC and use my Ambassador status.

As a platinum member has anyone been successful in altering the booking dates on a reservation where the policy states no amendments are permitted? I'm wondering if contacting the hotel directly is an option to avoid loosing the prepayment. Thanks in advance.
