It's a bit lost in this thread but there was some interest for a meeting of the AFF medical fraternity. Rather than run that thread with two different purposes, I suggest we leave the thread on discussion of Australian medicine there and discuss whether a meeting of us AFF medical people would be viable. I know that I've been reading a lot of you for quite some time and would be genuinely interested in meeting you all. It seems we have a good range of specialties here (including General Practice).

So, is this a good idea? I know scheduling is going to be a killer for this, but even if it's not possible immediately, perhaps a series of smaller gatherings when people are in different cities might work too.

I'm very happy to attend......... I am not a medico as such...... However, I'd definitely be CL PO due to my visits to hospital following allergic reactions!!

Boss

Would a PhD in medicine suffice to be a member of the AFF medical fraternity? No MBBS here...

Ok, I'm definitely keen for this. Would be good to maybe have a weekend lunch somewhere ( ? East coast SYD/MEL/BNE ??)
Doesn't need to necessarily be exclusively medical but would be good to have as many there as possible.
I'll get my thinking cap on soon :)

Certainly keen on seeing this happen but a lot of stars have to align with work and travel.

I'm interested....date /venue depending

Very good - glad to hear this happening - and like others, I'm very happy to make it not exclusively medical providing the general focus is on getting the medical troops together. Other AFFers would be welcome, if everyone else is happy with that!

For me, I'm doing a stint in medical retrieval until late October so will be shiftworking all over the shop until then, but have some blocks of dates and could make it work. I would be in favour of anywhere that we decide to meet.

After October, I'm going back to steady work that for me is significantly more flexible and can pretty much choose when I'm free (with notice), so I can be the person that goes with whatever everyone else wants to do. but hopefully we can meet before October (as I'm taking six weeks off to finish my currently stalled DONE5)!

Bossreggie seems to be keeping us all in work!

Would love to attend and would like to test out one of my allergy's again and see what happens this time.

Last time I had a anaphylactic reaction.

maybe we could tag it to a conference...... emergency/trauma meeting.... which most of us would/could somehow or other be interested/involved

Perhaps we can become founding fellows of the RACFFM (Royal Australasian College of Frequently Flying Medicos). CPD could be linked to status credits, LTG could equate to Professor Emeritus.
Do you reckon we could rope in some industry sponsorship?

If there's one thing I've learnt in my hassling (even vaguely) medical companies for funding, it's Yes, Yes You Can!

I'd quite like to attend too, linking it to a conference would be nice so I could use study leave on top of the deduction. I still have an AMEX free flight up my sleeve, and would prefer a location with a Hilton that's known to give good upgrades...

Add me to the "definitely interested" list. About time I met some people from this forum.

I'm intrigued. As in with the government? Actual retrievals or consultant?
