AFF Medical Meet?

Count me in! Sounds like it could be fun. Plenty of conferences around if we want to fit in around one.

I'm intrigued. As in with the government? Actual retrievals or consultant?

Actual retrievals. Who pays me is a complicated situation, but it's ultimately a government contract.

I am always interested in attending dos.

Alas, I'm not a doctor, but I can talk about eHealth; and it would be interesting to see what AFF's finest doctors think of eHealth and NEHTA.

Do you work with NEHTA? Some of my research overlaps with eHealth. (As a tangent of my research rather than a focus in and of itself).

Not directly, no.

Although the eHealth initiative is of some interest given where I normally play (work?).

I see. Our retreival teams' workload just went up by a great deal. They are now activated to any P1 trauma cases withina 15km radius of the Bankstown base, by road. So I can see much less helicopter time happening for them.

If that's you, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Surely road response within 15km is much quicker than primary activation of the helicopter?

Even HEMS in London uses sedans at night when the traffic is lighter.

Do you work with NEHTA?

Some one called? I am currently working at NEHTA (not that I can make any comments on behalf of the organisation). I work on the "e" side more than the "health" side, but is that enough to qualify?

Definitely more than enough to qualify. Come to the meet if it happens! We'll have plenty to discuss :D

If I come can someone bring their pad and write me some prescriptions :p

Heck just bring the free pills the salespeople give you. ;) Now if you were the accompanying medicos on an F lounge run you might even get some work. Do you all take Amex (without surcharge!).

I'm not a medical person, but have always had an interest in the field given my insurance background (who else would have Evelyn Pearces' Anatomy and Physiology for Nurses as well as Ballieres' Nurses Dictionary in their bookcase as work resources?)

Would be happy to be a VMO for the day (Visiting Moderator :D)

A trauma conference would make sense although I probably wouldn't want to take extra time off for a conference.

I could speak to a potential sponsor when the time comes around if necessary (I have one in mind, not a drug or device company).

IainF and MrsIainF may also be interested as they are both in the medical supply and pharmaceutical industries - IainF's parents are both doctors and MrsIainF was a RN and midwife.

Count me in, provided jobs and motorsport don't get in the way!

Also, I know there are a few medical people on here who don't like to acknowledge that on the internet, so if there is someone taking the lead in organising then it may be worth publicising your username so the doctors lurking here can direct-message you an RSVP and thus keep their medicalness (medicality??) a secret.

I'm sure i can justify a trip to this somehow as can Mrs C

Im happy to be academic convenor with one of my academic hats on

Everyone coming will be talking!

As a result we will be following teh pecha kucha format
No more than 5 slides

Pecha Kucha (Japanese: ペチャクチャ, IPA: [petɕa ku͍̥tɕa],[SUP][1][/SUP] chit-chat) is a presentation methodology in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (approx. 6' 40" in total), usually seen in a multiple-speaker event called a Pecha Kucha Night (PKN)

or lightning talk s
Formats vary between venues. Most conferences will assign a speaking slot (30 to 90 minutes) to them and arrange several talks one after the other during the session. The length of talks are usually between 1 and 10 minutes with a 5 minute limit being common. In order to allow rapid changes between speakers, slides may either be discouraged or a single computer running a Presentation program is used by all speakers.

You'd be surprised how many words I can fit in 5 mins!

preliminary programme ( dont shoot the messenger! I'm having fun here)

NB whilst the topic may be vaguely medical to justify the ATO status , the topic need bear no relationship to the actual content!
We've all been to those talks!
i may allow 6 slides to introduce the best photo competition!
