I'll come, listen, eat, drink and claim it as a tax deduction:mrgreen:

(not that I can make any comments on behalf of the organisation).
Well, yes. I am in the same boat. Which is why I am deliberately vague. Public comment in our organisation is trictly frowned upon.

Surely road response within 15km is much quicker than primary activation of the helicopter?
Absolutely. Although the Careflight helo (formerly HIRT) can pretty much haul a$$. Generally can be wheels-up in 5 minutes of the call. Mostly due to the fact that it has automated spin-up procedures, and the aircraft is parked 10 seconds from the ready room. When Careflight and Lifesaver were the primaries, they were not much slower.

Currently, the standard rescue choppers wont even be in the air by the time Careflight is on the ground at the scene.

Also the former penegal +1 is/was a RN, and is now a paramedic for Ambulance Victoria. But that probably doesn't count as we aren't together any more :p

Hmm, trauma insurance in action is another possible topic, or my personal favourite "how to survive a Clarke Level 3 spreading invasive malignant melanoma".

On a somber note, I lost my neighbour to metastatic melanoma late last week - the funeral was in NTL today but I couldn't get there and back today in time to get my ADL flight tonight. Pity as it may have given me the opportunity to meet Princess Fiona.

I have another client (23 yo) who has metastatic melanoma and she's still in chemotherapy, but the end is nigh. At least I have been able to organise a couple of "wish list" items for her.

metastatic melanoma is a cough of a disease
I suspect we all have close friends who have died of it or know someone who has a relative who did

(hand in the air here!)

My God medicos are an indecisive lot. Hurry up and write a script for this "do" so we can see when and where it will be!

Yep we all hate paying our insurance premium but when we need it we don't whinge about it then.

Things must not be rushed.Several more diagnostic tests before we can come to a conclusion.Or conclusions.

After seeing what everyone is involved in, some form of critical care/trauma conference might be a plan.

Although, I'm suspecting that pegging it to a medical conference might introduce extra issues. We're a broad lot - physicians, anaesthetists, emergency physicians, intensive care, pre-hospital. I know there are GPs around on the board too as well as all the allied fields. It's going to be hard to find a conference that would suit even many of us if not all of us.

With that in mind, does anyone want to suggest dates and places? I suspect we're all being somewhat unsure about who should suggest first. Do we want to make it a lead time of about 2-3 months so that people can arrange time off? And would people travel to this if it wasn't in your town? I suspect most of us are on the Eastern seaboard, too...

Octoberish, East Coast- SYD/MEL/BNE

Linked to an Emergency/Trauma/Primary care based conference if any around, easy enough to claim an expense for GPs and ICU/Anaesthetics as well as those in the Prehospital or ED pathways.

These could stretch to most specialties. Would be different...

Oh, wow, I'm going giddy just at the thought of the Space Conference. And we could all hang out at HSW Exec Lounge in the evenings (even if we're not all Golds and Diamonds, I'm sure that we could get people in).

I could do the HIV conference too, but the cool factor would be in the Space one.

Space sounds like great fun!

I will have a look for some other conference ideas :)

Space sounds perfect and the location makes it easy for me!

Edit
I would only be able to make a dinner towards the end of the conference
