Thanks to a brilliant suggestion by Hvr and with the new QF Restaurants program in mind, i'm proposing a regular (say Monthly) Yum Cha gathering in MEL on a Sunday each month.

Anyone interested? As we'd be in contention to earn QFF points from the new program, I also propose that we alternate who makes the booking so no one misses out.

The venue is in the Inner North of Melbourne. I've been there several times, and it's a decent Yum Cha spread.

I'm proposing the first one be Sunday January 19th.

EOI from people? I am happy to drive 1 or 2 there if required (from just outside the CBD to the North).

I will actually be visiting MEL that weekend, so that fits in very nicely with what I have already planned. Could myself +1 in, and I may need a lift, but I'll have a look on the web first.

Additionally, once this date has been confirmed I'll add it to the new calendar for social events.

That date is out for me (in fact January is pretty much unavailable) - I can possible attend at a later date, but have much weekend stuff in my diary for the next six months.

Awesome idea.... Certainly count me in as a "Gold" , hopefully a "Platinum" in a coupleof weeks.

Sounds like a great way to start the new year of in terms of AFF Melbourne social Gatherings.

My travel plans are still firming up, but it's the only w/end in January I'm available, and I know from March onwards, there's a very high probability that I may not be spending much time in Melbourne at all :S

Still, i'll try and aim to schedule this once a month (With different people booking each month to get the benefits).

Do one that's not smack bang in the middle of the Australian Open and I'd consider popping down.

Perhaps I will make an appearance at the February event :)

Ahhh I totally forgot about the Aus Open.

I'd suggest the 26th but that's Australia day (and the open is still running). If you decide to come, you're welcome to stay at my place (I have a great lounge, or alternatively, a large air mattress with a generous vulga-lour covering ;)).

Be good to catch up again it's been too long!

Preston might be a bit far for AusOpen weekend, so put me down as Silver
It's right next to a train and tram stop, so no excuses ;) Only around 30 minutes on a train from Flinders Street.

I'm also offering a lift for one or two from the CBD area, and i'm sure others will be able to assist with transport.

It has been too long!

Colour me Silver for the moment. I might even pop down for the day.

I'll check out flight availability/pricing over the weekend.

Makes it tougher for me even going forward as I live a by train hour the other side of Flinders st Station.

Perhaps there's a Yum Cha place on the QF Restaurants program down your way and we can head there sometimes too?
