Is there any interest in meeting up for a wine tasting at Rockford's Barossa in January either [-]11th,[/-] 12th, [-]18th or 19th[/-]? I can get us into the Stonewall room if the number of guests is reasonable and is there another Stonewaller who might be interested so we can get more in?

I would also suggest lunch (and more tasting) just over the road at Charles Melton.

Any input appreciated.

Mrs B. & I definately going as we need to pick our grog order.

-----

The current list is:

Platinum:
medhead + 2
Anna + 1
penegal
drewbles
Mr & Mrs Buzzard

Gold:
romney + 1

Silver:
shintaro10x

Total is 9 Platinum, 2 Gold, 1 Silver for a total of 12.

Lunch is booked for 12 pax but I am sure they could fit in 1 extra if there is any interest.

Cut off for this event is 5.00pm Thursday 9th January as I have to confirm bookings on Friday morning.

I could be up for that! I'm sure I could rope one or two more in as well. Always meant to do the Barossa, so could be a nice long day trip for me.

How would transport work? I'm sure most attendees would care to partake in the consumption of fine grape-based libations, so driving may be out for most of us.

I will be in Hawaii, but would otherwise come with my ears back. I'm a stonewaller too :)

Interested. Can do all those dates. Possibly SWMBO as well and/or younglings.

Now can we talk about black Shiraz?

I with SWMBO will happen to be in RAdelaide for the first weekend. However, the 11th will be at Schutzenfest.

I assume the Friday or Monday are out due to that horrible thing called work? :)

Unfortunately transport could be an issue. I find it bemusing that it is easier getting to say Singapore than the Barossa
I have to go to Rockies anyway to pick up my small order so thought it would be a good opportunity to meet some new faces.
Well I don't have to but it's more fun than home delivery :D
Mon - Fri is out for us because of work but happy to pick the date that suits most people.

So we need someone who's happy to be a designated driver (or several) and some hire cars I guess. May make it tough (or just all cough up and hire limos for the day ;)).

I don't mind being a/the designated driver as I will be driving up there regardless. What I don't have is a people mover.
If there is enough interest, I could always price Des's Mini Bus which comes with a driver.

Suggestions/thoughts anybody?

As discussed by PM, I am definitely interested.

Weekends work best for me. I am definitely in Singapore for the FT SIN do, so the 18th/19th dates you have suggested won't work for me. The earlier two should be manageable.

I'd happily chip in for a minibus. If it was a Saturday, I could also think about staying at the Novotel or with friends in the barossa.

12 - 13 Jan suits penegal, Mrs B and I, we do prefer a Sunday but not fussed.
How do others feel about 12th - 13th and which day (Sat or Sun) would you prefer?

Mrs B. has set the date..... Sunday 13th January.

Assuming penegal, medhead, the bride and I makes 4.

Any other takers? Or partners?

I've just been informed that the 13th is a Monday, I guess the 12th is the Sunday.

That date would have been perfect....except for the in-laws organising a surprise birthday lunch! :(

Maybe it really means...surprise...I wont attend? :)

Buzzard - How firm is this date?

If it's looking good, I may book sooner rather than later.

Ooops - Sunday is the 12th. Should have looked at the 2014 not the 2013 calendar

Yes, the date is now locked in so all I need are numbers. Hope this helps you plan, penegal.

Did I suggest earlier in the thread lunch at Charles Melton over the road? Any takers for that so we can book?
