I'm a definite, lock it in Eddie, for both lunch and tasting.

Can I also have 3 maybe spots for lunch, and 1 "maybe, I'm not into wine tasting spot" for the tasting? The maybes also came with a "I don't want to confirm right now, do I". Which means they miss out if there are any problems with numbers.

Lets say I book the tasting for 11.30am with lunch booked for 1.00pm. Do these times suit or are there other suggestions?

Mrs B. and I are flexible.

Naturally another tasting would follow @ Charles Melton post lunch. Or pre lunch. Or even during lunch

I assume there is a limit of 12 on the group size given the small size of the winery?

Yes please Buzzard put me down for the lunch and tasting/s.

Tasting one would be in the Rockford Stonewall Room, lunch at Charles Melton (almost opposite) with another tasting also at Charles Melton. Hope this clarifies.

That sounds really good, I think I'll just go blow some points ;)

I am now a confirmed starter.

It turns out that one of my AmEx free flights actually expired last month, so it was a case of "use it or lose it" today. As such, I have made the following booking:

10 JAN 14 VA219 Dep MEL 10:10 Arr ADL 11:00
13 JAN 14 VA236 Dep ADL 17:05 Arr MEL 18:55

I haven't been to ADL for leisure for quite some time, so this will give me better part of ~4 days in Adelaide and surrounds, with the trip to Rockford on the Sunday. I will probably stay at the Hilton or with a friend of a friend (TBC).

How are we planning on actually getting out to Rockford / the Barossa?

I don't want to drive, so I am happy to cover someone's meal at lunch and/or chip in some cash for a minibus.

I am unfortunately in limbo as the points cost per SC was too high for my liking and the Y prices are outrageous! :(

I am waiting on a return call from Chris @ Rockford's.

I will book for 12 people but will confirm this number with Rockfords a bit later.

So far we have:

Transport: We can get an 8hr Des's Mini Bus (7pax) charter for $406 or 13pax $486.
Pick up & drop off can be either at our homes/hotels or a central spot as it is based on 8 hours charter and not distance. We can decide as a group what best suits us, I am happy to be picked up in the CBD. Des's require 7 - 10 days notice.
The alternative is to make our own way. Feedback please.

If we can fill 10+ seats, this would be a fair price I think.

My benchmark for wine tours is $50-$100 for 8hrs (both bus and tour guide). Our price would be at the lower end of this given we aren't paying for a "tour guide" or lunch through the bus/tour company.

ADL in zone 2 from here, not sure it's worth 24k return in Y for 30SC :p

I want to come, I'm just deciding what to do.

Yeah, my suggestion was about saving cash money not cost. But ool-ADL would be 50 SC return. :p

Minor schedule change.

Charles Melton can only fit us in for lunch at 12.00 and will hold the table for 1/2 hour.

So the plan is tasting at CM 11.00am then at least we are already there for lunch.
Lunch say 1.5hrs takes us to 1.30pm
Will book Rockford's for 1.30pm tasting.

Depending upon samh004 we now have a small mini bus (I thought small & mini were pretty much the same  ) should we wish to use that avenue of transport - $58 each.

Can we post anywhere else to garner some more interest or pm somebody?

If we get the bus, we could also look at visiting another winery for tasting depending on people's stamina.

I suspect it could be quite hot, so I hope the bus has air con ;)
