I knew the free Flying Blue status was going to be good for something. ;)

Lufthansa M&M is offering a status match to Flying Blue elites. FB Silver gets matched to M&M Frequent Traveller status (LH*S) whilst FB Gold and FB Platinum will be matched to M&M Senator status (LH*G).

Given M&M status lasts for 2 years, this is an excellent way to obtain *G benefits up to 2013!

The only caveat is you need to credit at least 2 segments on M&M airlines to M&M. So this will only work for those who are planning on traveling to Europe soon (or anywhere in Asia where LH operates 5th freedom flights):
** After only one booked flight (two segments) with Adria Airways, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, LOT, Lufthansa, Luxair or SWISS, you will receive your gold or silver Miles & More card.

Could be handy, going over to Europe in a couple of weeks anyway, let's see if we can fit in some (more) flying :D

To activate status match, must complete the 2 M&M segments by 31 July 2011.

Unlikely for me, but doable for some AFFers I hope.

The question will be, for those of us who have just matched to FB from QFF (say), when our FB cards will arrive -- or if they don't, if M&M will accept the FB temporary card from the website.

Luckily I'll be in Europe next month; I already have my KLM flight booked to ensure a soft landing with FB, and now need to fit in two LH segments for M&M.

I have done the lost card print option and must say when scanned in again it looks like it is a scan of the real card... Just looking at possible SN flights for next month...

easiest way would be a quick lh bkk-kul-bkk run :)

Not sure if this would work because in the fine print it says;

** After only one booked flight (two segments) with Adria Airways, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, LOT, Lufthansa, Luxair or SWISS, you will receive your gold or silver Miles & More card. The card is valid until February 201

Hold up.... Am I reading this wrong, or is it saying that you don't get the card until you travel 2 sectors...

As in, you can use the benefits of being a *G, but you don't get a card until you fly the sectors...?

I have been wondering the same... When I log in to my Miles and More account it does not say I am Gold... A bit confusing me thinks.

Abu Dhabi to Muscat is also a nice short Lufthansa flight which does not require going to Europe.

So what does "with" mean in that sentence above? That airline's metal? Flight number?

The flights I'm looking at taking are AMS-HAM-AMS, which are LH flight numbers, but "OPERATED BY EUROWINGS AG". Will they count, or do I need to find some flights on actual LH metal?

It's funny, you go to the actual Terms and Conditions page, and it doesn't even list the airlines that you have to fly to qualify.

Great, thanks very much for this!

Would have been even nicer if they matched Plat to HON Circle... :D

Looks like a great offer, but unfortunately I wont be flying anywhere international for a while so wont be able to take advantage, otherwise I could have been mid-tier in all three alliances at the same time :(

Hhmm, very tempting. I was just looking at LH J RTW ticket for a business trip that would allow me to do some QF sectors (to retain WP ;)) and some *A sectors to bolster my UA status (just fell back to Premier :(). There would be a couple of short Euro hops involved that would give me the two flights. The question would be whether or not to switch totally to LH from UA?

Apart from the obvious benefit of picking up the top tier, does LH offer any other benefits over other *A programmes (especially UA MP?). There might be an existing thread exploring that topic...

First off thanks QF009 for this, what an awesome find!

ok - so have been doing some research and the flights out of BKK to KUL are a pain in the neck if you want to utilise during the upcoming Queens bday long weekend...

Do you think i would have any issues flying Singapore to Jakarta and back again on the same day - im fairly certain the return flight is the same plane going across so no issues with delays etc- but how do i explain to Indonesian immigration why im going to be in the airport for 90 mins before heading back to Singapore

would i even need to go through immagration in Jakarta? could i just stay airside and get the flight back if i had my boarding pass?

any info would be appreciated :p

Good find, yeah I did see it pop up on FB but thanks for the details.

I have booked 2 sectors on LH Italia, but I selected BMI as the earning partner, I wonder how do I undo that to select M&M as my earning preference.

I could just fly a CDG-BER-CDG day trip, I am sure a few AFFers have flown just for the mileage. and I don't have to cross any oceans. :)

Good stuff!
So I take it you have to book a flight (for travel before 31/7) and then register for the status match?

IIRC Eurowings is a Lufthansa regional offshoot which effectively flies as LH (think Qantaslink affiliates), and so their flights should be considered LH metal. But do ask the M&M call center to be sure (skype the ones in Switzerland or Germany for best results... the Melbourne call center is pretty sketchy).

SIN-CGK-SIN SQ F runs were popular with people doing SQ PPS sector runs under the old PPS sector system. I seem to recall that the turnaround was relatively straightforward. Do a search on the SQ forum on FT or SQTalk. This would date back to 2006/7 though.

edit: Found this in the LH forum: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mile...10-sin-cgk-vv-lh-merged-jakarta-q-thread.html

A more up to date post involving CX corroborates the above: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mile...10-sin-cgk-vv-lh-merged-jakarta-q-thread.html
