Lufthansa status match for Flying Blue customers!

IIRC Eurowings is a Lufthansa regional offshoot which effectively flies as LH (think Qantaslink affiliates), and so their flights should be considered LH metal. But do ask the M&M call center to be sure (skype the ones in Switzerland or Germany for best results... the Melbourne call center is pretty sketchy).

SIN-CGK-SIN SQ F runs were popular with people doing SQ PPS sector runs under the old PPS sector system. I seem to recall that the turnaround was relatively straightforward. Do a search on the SQ forum on FT or SQTalk. This would date back to 2006/7 though.

edit: Found this in the LH forum: SIN to CGK vv on LH [merged Jakarta Q & A thread] - FlyerTalk Forums

A more up to date post involving CX corroborates the above: SIN to CGK vv on LH [merged Jakarta Q & A thread] - FlyerTalk Forums

Thanks for that - it worked out cheaper, spending the night in Jakarta so dont have to worry now

Now I have booked my 2 segments - i wonder if I have to fly them for my status to show up etc - when i log in - doesnt appear to be any different than before...

I emailed the Miles & More support desk via their web form, and received this response:

...you must fly two segments on either Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Croatian Airlines, Lot Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Luxair or SWISS by 31 July 2011.

Moreover, as Eurowings is regional Partner of Lufthansa, your flights with this airline will be considered for this promotion.

So I'll be booking my flights AMS-HAM-AMS.

I applied for the status match.

Now wondering if I book a CDG-FRA-BER and return CDG-BER would I be Luftansa Gold for the return trip which would be a day later.

Checking out other options at the moment.

Now for $400 with lounge access for about 18 months doesn't sound like a too bad a deal to me.

Do you think we can use the temporary 'print your own' card from the AF website for the status match?

Hmm..signed up for the status match and just need to fly the 2 segments now...was thinking of doing the BKK-KUL-BKK or Sing to Jakarta run as I'm currently in HK and its relatively cheap to position myself in either of those places. OR....

Am thinking of heading from HK to Miami in about a week to watch the NBA playoffs and wondering if anyone with more knowledge on this could suggest a routing I could possibly take which would fulfill the 2 segment rule for the status match, or a possible detour once I get to Miami which would accomplish the same thing?

First off thanks QF009 for this, what an awesome find!

Do you think i would have any issues flying Singapore to Jakarta and back again on the same day - im fairly certain the return flight is the same plane going across so no issues with delays etc

Ok I'm thinking about doing the LH SIN-CGK-SIN turnaround next month. I'll be in Bali for a holiday for 6 days. I know on arrival in DPS, I can buy a visa on arrival. Is this valid for single entry or multiple entry with the 30 days?

A few days later on 13 June, i plan to get a cheap AirAsia flight to DPS-SIN, and do the LH run, and catch another cheap JQAsia SIN-DPS flight back on the 14 June.

CGK
It looks like I can stay airside in CGK and pick-up boarding passes without going through immigration. Likely i will book as 2 one-way segments SIN-CGK/CGK-SIN as it is cheaper this way.

Re-entry into DPS
What happens when i re-enter DPS? Would i need to buy another visa on arrival?
Also will I encounter any difficulties with Indonesian immigration for this 'unusual' intinerary?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks, TJ

A nice offer, although I am already a BD*G, and if BD DC gets eaten up by M&M they will make me a Senator anyway, with the same expiry as most here or another year.

All indonesia visa on arrivals are single entry. Doing a turnaround at CGK isn't easily usually, unless you have the return boarding pass.

I am tempted to do a SIN-CGK turnaround, I'm assuming at SIN check-in I can also check-in for the return shuttle back. So I deboard the plane, sit at the nearest seat, then wait for boarding to commence for the flight back to SIN?

All this means is I spend the evening flying to and from and miss out on another night to eat Singapore Chilli Crab :(

im doing that run on the queens bday long weekend - when i booked the flight was much more expensive to do that way - cant actually even book through the german LH site but it is available from the Australian one - so i decided to stay one night "experience" Jakarta and even staying at the Sheraton - cheaper than doing the flight all in one day - but if time is a factor etc understandible

Looks like I'm doing a business trip to Paris at the start of July (SYD-CDG return with SQ) and I might have some time to book a side trip on LH. Some interesting / cheapish discount fares coming up.

I've never actually been to Germany before, so can anyone recommend a city that could be interesting as a day trip from CDG? ie destination airport is close to city with decent metro/train connection into town?

Direct options from CDG include: BRU, DUS, FRA, ZRH, MXP, MUC, HAM, TXL, VIE.

I'd love to visit Berlin (TXL), but the times for the direct flghts aren't great.

Lat time i went there Brussels, Vienna, Zurich or Milan weren't in Germany... Having said that Munich is a great day trip or overnight. Good links to the city and a fun summers destination. Go and see the surfers in the river and have a beer or two ;)

Very true, but they appear to count towards the LH status match (besides the obvious places in Germany I haven't been to!

MUC is probably the front runner. Going there for a beer sounds more fun than some of the other short hops that have been suggested on this thread :!:

I'm about to board my return flight of sin-cgk, will let you know how long before the status kicks in

Now at CDG airport on my status run to Hamburg.

The accommodation ended up being cheaper in Hamburg than Paris anyway.

My return flight is Wednesday so it will be interesting to see how long it takes to click over.

well my first flight sin-cgk hasnt posted but my return cgk-sin has - so still dont have an answer re how quickly status ticks over etc anyone know of a quick way to claim missing flights with LH?

both flights have now posted - no change of status as yet

when i rang up about my earlier missing flight, the girl mentioned my status code was something she hadnt seen before, so im guessing if you requested the status match it has been recorded against your miles & more number. interesting to see how long before the status changes - hopefully dont have to wait until july 31st when the promo period ended...
