Another series, another debacle in the making. Don't read any further because I am going to vent. Pitch condition, of course those cowardly indians produce a turner from the first session, not only that, they open their bowling with a spinner! Surprise, surprise, where is the ICC to stop this obvious pitch manipulation from happening? The ICC policing India, I won't even dream of going there!

I've said this before, how many chances do you give the marsh brothers? I'm really beginning to think that their dad has an unnatural hold over Australian cricket. Compared to others, like Callum Ferguson, the marsh brothers keep getting chosen when their form doesn't deserve it.

I've been a huge fan of Darren Lehmann over the years and feel he was badly done by the Australian selectors in his earlier days as a player, but now, if he think if he thinks that the marsh brothers should be in the team, then it's time for him to move on. Maybe he has no say in it, that's quite possible.

Unfortunately though, it seems that his heir apparent is Western Australian, langer, can't see him being impartial when it comes to having a say about west australians being in the side, deserving or not.

Rant over, no more cricket for me in the short term, I'll have to confine my sporting interest to rallying for now.........

Agree! Unfortunately every country doctors the pitch these days - Poms did it in the UK during last test series.

It's beyond anyone why the Marsh bros are still in the team. By any measure they don't deserve their places. At last they are in India and out of sight and not on TV so we don't have to watch the debacle screaming at the TV! :)

But I was as soon as I put the kids to bed and was reading cossie's comments when turning it on. Thank God for Starc. 9/256 is much better than I could have hoped - but I still think India will make 500+ and take the game away from us (we had it for the first session!)

Stunning! India 9 for 101! OKeefe 4 wickets in one over, 5 in match so far. For tragics, it's on ABCExtra on digital.

Update: all out for 105. 6 : 35 for OKeefe

A short time ago Australia 2 for 46 - two LBW's - obviously both sides are struggling on this pitch

Walked to the club tonight for a few beers. Got to see the Indians collapse from a distance & no sound. Must say a surprise after seeing SOK being rather unimpressive in opening the bowling. Home after beers but Tv on Attenborough & then Norton show with cricinfo on the laptop=life is full of compromise

Good to see SE Marsh make a valuable contribution by staying there for 21 balls and scoring an excellent 0.

I can scarcely believe what I'm seeing, go you good things....... :)

That'll teach me to write them off and watch the Reds win (whilst backing the Sharks) :o

Thankfully for me, Foxtel 500 showed me the Steve and Steve show - O'Keefe after a pretty ordinary first 6 overs, scores a "Michelle" in 25 balls - one of the faster ever of all time. What an over - 3 wickets and stellar reflexes catches by Smith and Hanscomb. India 7/11 I think is also a record (worst collapse) and 105 is their second worst score at home and 5th worst in their history.

Then Smith shows the way again batting. Hope we get 500+ ahead and then see how me go. Wonder how long Shaun Marsh will last in the team

Ah:) positive vibes as usual JohnK. At least it's not golf.
I call it as I see it. The previous day's batting was awful if not for Renshaw and a lucky 50 from a tailender then 1 bowler had a freakish once in a lifetime over. The batting in the second innings has only been 1 batsman.

Go the Auusies. The complete test team. At least it won't be a white wash.

At least some batting averages will come down to Earth. Wish they chose Voges in the team because some think he's the second best batsman of all time.

Will 440 be enough? Hope so!

Meanwhile over in WA, Jason Behrendorff, coming back from injury has taken 9 for 37 off 13.2 overs with 5 maidens! Got to give him a plug as he has played a lot of his cricket in Canberra.

How good is that? After my little hissy fit on Thursday, there was no way that I thought this would happen, even in my wildest dreams.

Serves india right, pitch manipulation is a curse on the game, maybe, just maybe, they will learn something from this, doubt it though!

It will be very interesting to see what sort of pitches they serve up now after such a comprehensive loss.

Time to eat humble pie. Again.

Very impressive to beat India in India inside of 3 days. Is O'Keefe lucky or should he be number one spinner?

I was at Adelaide oval today and there must have been less than 100 people watching SA and Qld and it's free entry - must be a huge step up for these guys from Sheffield Shield to tests

Go Aussies - win in India and then get ready to thump the Poms!!

Kohli said (no sour grapes at all) that "even a part timer could have taken four wickets".

I was as full of foreboding as the OP thinking that even 0-3 would be seen as a minor victory. But they've proven me wrong. The pressure is back on India as Aus only have to draw the series to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Not sure that Mitch Marsh is essential to Australia's plans. Mitch Starc has a better batting average and has scored 9 Test 50s vs 2 for Marsh.

At least we can enjoy one week of this tour before Bangalore. I envisage roads for the rest of the Tests which may encourage draws more than wins really. Provided Aus can make the most of the surfaces.
