Today we’re announcing plans to refresh our Qantas Club in Hobart.

As part of the upgrade, the Business Centre will be removed to create an open space for additional seats, and a new buffet and sandwich press will complement the club’s existing menu.

The lounge will be closed between February 9 and February 13 for the refresh works to be completed.

Looking forward to your feedback. :)

Are you sure it's possible for the HBA lounge to be "enhanced" further? :p;)

Good news, and long overdue.

Hobart QC is like a zoo at busy times with hardly enough room to stand, given the number of chairs which are occupied! Given the long corridor into the Lounge from the general terminal area, it's a shame that the whole Lounge can't be extended north back towards that general area, but I'm guessing there are offices etc in the way (I can't recall).

Until the whole terminal is remodelled/expanded, I think there's little that can be done except the odd cosmetic makeover (which this sounds like).

I do wonder how big the queue will be for the sandwich press!

Regards,

BD

Golly, when I saw the headline I thought , "Oh Dear, they're making it smaller"

Its a lovely, cosy place to wait for your B717, and I have always found the staff very helpful. But is does look a bit tired, and a lick of paint should sort that! :D

Glad to hear there are positive enhancements to be had!

Not to detract though, I'm eagerly waiting for news on the BNE expansions to the lounges :p

Congrats, a much needed refurb (albeit a minor one).

Sounds great, last time I was in HBA I was denied access due to over-crowding and given vouchers for the terminal instead.

(Actually it worked out well, the Jansz sparkling we bought with our vouchers was much nicer than the wine in the QP would have been)

Be grateful for small mercies I guess, but sorry, this doesn't impress this HBA based flyer. I was there a few days ago and noticed some new furniture - smaller, to get more into the tiny space. Doing away with the business centre will only create a few more spaces, and it won't alleviate the over-crowding - just that those presently turned away will be let in, and it'll be as crowded as ever.

That a sandwich press should feature in an announcement of a lounge 'enhancement' I think shows how ... well, frankly, pathetic and minimal the 'enhancement' is.

The worst thing is that the QF management will now think 'well, Hobart's had its lounge make-over' and nothing more will get done for another 10 years or so.

That was the first thing I thought too. A sandwich press. Wow, really? What's that worth...$20 from K-Mart perhaps?

Wonder if it will be the Premier or the local MHR that will do the honours of making the first pressed sandwich? Will Qantas Ambassadors be on hand?

I'll be flying out of HBA on the 13th, so will miss out, but also on the 19th, when I will bring AFF exclusive pictures of the sandwich press in action.

I assume it will still be closed for the evening J* departures? ! :(

I'm sure the tradies would love an extra pair of hands! ;)

Glad to hear that Red Roo.I actually read the title and thought it was going to close.

Great idea for an April Fool's Day joke! Not sure if RooFlyer would find it very funny though...

Do you think their will be a priority queue that's enforced for the queue that will form to use it? :)

:) :p

... but in all honesty, as I've posted in trip reports, more often than not I don't use the HBA Qantas Club as its too crowded; I make do with an expensive coffee out with the hoi polloi . I really hope the new arrangement makes a difference, but I can't see it - but I will inspect in a week or so and revert. ;)

The sandwich press? Time will tell! I can see the thread now:

"HBA sandwich press priority toastie making ... what's the story?"
