I must have missed last years thread.

Looks like I will be using the SYD Qantas club on 26 December and 05 January. Not such a big loss.

Except that Ausbt are saying it's December 25 to January 12 inclusive. That's 19 days!

Spoke to quite a few staff last year, apparently it's the window shades, carpets and light bulbs that take time to replace/clean. Sometimes days at a time.

Does this mean Qantas clubs don't get cleaned in the same way?

Of course it's about saving money...!

Anything they can do to clean the filthy J lounge at SYD will be heartily welcomed by me.

It is not like they don't have about 8 hours a night to do that sort of cleaning.

That's a disgrace really, you could do a whole lounge refit in that time.

Cost cutting pure and simple, and it's cough.

With one hand you give me 10x points on vouchers and DSC and on the other you remove the lounge! Do you love me or hate me?

What is interesting is in MEL with both the CL and the J lounge out of action! CLs in the QP.... Lolz

Ah... I copy-pasted the title from last year's thread and forgot to update! Mods can you please update...

Ah. So that explains why I couldn't find the post:

kevrosmith has just replied to a thread you havesubscribed to entitled - Business Lounges closed 26 December 2012 to 6 January2013 - in the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program forum of The Australian FrequentFlyer Online Community.

outrageous! how will I cope having to use the Qantas club!!! HOW AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So given the J lounges are going to be closed for "routine cleaning and maintenance." perhaps we can suggest specific items to be attended to in each lounge?

Given that some lounges have just been taken over by new management what will the staff there do for leave?

LOL... typical luck. I've never flown J before. Just booked some JASA's over that period. Appears I will still never have used the J Lounges :( OH well... will just have to dig in and get WP with the DSC instead.

Anywhere in particular? Looks OK to me but my standards are not anything to go by.

They do close them at night ...,don't they? Surely that's when cleaning staff would work their magic?

This is purely a cost cutting measure. Wonder if the shutdown will become three weeks long in 2014-15?

Ummm, the 2013-2014 shutdown will be 19 days. I'd call that close enough to 3 weeks already!

Well done QF on cutting costs and frustrating a valuable group of your loyal customers!

Getting contractors to work between the 25th and 5th of Jan - Hilarious

Devils advocate here: Without the benefit of flight loadings etc. It maybe QF's low impact period hence the upgrade/teardown. Given the above when would AFF members prefer this type of activity to occur? Without any other stats surely it's a no win situation?
