Cleaning huh? I took my wife, son and Mother-in-law into the J lounge on the day they reopened. All 3 are NB and the MIL had never been in the J before.

Great service, almost like the staff had 3 weeks of pent up friendliness, but no evidence of any maintenance or cleaning. In fact my little guy crawled up to the window and I saw him playing in a film of dead flies and thick dust, pretty disgusting actually.

This makes me think it was cost saving, pure and simple. I don't mind, it makes sense from QF point of view: I just don't like being spun a line.

If you ask my wife, it's a business trip ..... But I'm not sure that she is 100% convinced by the slight roll of the eyes that I received. Having said that, she also understands that these trips have longer term benefits for her too.

Unofficially, yes :)

Well... In CBR and SYD they closed the main lounge and sent everyone to the business lounge!! In MEL, both lounges were open.

Very sneaky Qantas!

Yes, the business lounges were open, but in CBR, SYD (& BNE?) they were being used as the regular QP.

They should have closed the QP and J lounge and sent everyone to the CL.

Both QC and J lounges open in Sydney today...maybe it was only for Xmas day?
 
If the SYD QP was closed yesterday, and everyone was pushed to the J Lounge, there wasn't any overcrowding when I was there over lunchtime. About 95% empty. Glanced at the CL and it seemed to be closed.
