Interesting review. Reading between the lines he isn't confiden it will age well. My rule is that any wine on the discount market that has a bad review is probably not worth buying. Tastes are pesonal and reviews can vary but wines are generally discounted either because they are selling for...

It's Petaluma Evans - I've had it confirmed. I havent tried this vintage but it's generally a good wine. Probably on the expensive side at RRR. Nick's had it for just under $60. At $35 I bought some.

Love to get your feedback. I like the Meshach as a rule was put off by reviews and the discounting. Pur 2 & 2 together... If it's not a good wine $90ish is pricey. If it's up to usual standard it's a decent price IMO. Other vintages often go for less on Langtons unreserved auctions so you...

Yes he did. I read a response from John Middleton to Parker's review (a long time ago) taking aim at Parker's stylistic liking for the big reds but there was some tension beforehand. Middleton didn't have much time for critics or the secondary market.

Interesting read. Dr John Middleton had some interesting views on Robert Parker and the ability to articulate them.

Tend to agree. Bob Campbell & NZ wine - deduct plenty.

Australian wine reviews and point scores in particular are a disgrace. Unmitigated BS. Try and find a published reviewfrom a major "critic" of a known winery's product that is disparaging. The number of 94+ point wines is farcicle. I don't pay any attention to reviews any more or at least...

I've never tried it but thanks for the input W&D. 96 points for a $20 wine seems high though.

The 2006 Glen Eldon was good from memory but it would have been a fair while back that I had it. I think I have one in the cellar. I am trying to confirm via broker if this is actually the Glen Eldon, in which case I'll grab a case and try one along side the 2006 at some point in the near future.

Interesting observations. I presume this is the 2015 Trofeo? I had a bottle last night with my wife. We both liked it. I don't have TN's and I didn't study the wine at all but it wasn't acidic to my taste. Certainly not a big Pinot but it's not supposed to be - not thin IMO. At first it...
