    You haven’t lived until…

Clearly we live a much safer life now after two big mistakes. Body surfed a 27 foot wave in California. Came off a motorized skateboard in Shanghai onto concrete. Have knee and shoulder aches to remind me about stupid moves. Meanwhile we introduced our family to flying up front of the plane and...

Decent affordable accommodation in the US?

Unfortunately there is a growing group using tents and RVs in California as they just cannot afford the monthly rent. You may have seen Paul Hogan complain as they are occupying his street in Venice California.

Decent affordable accommodation in the US?

Yes there are folks leaving California due to the high rents for accommodation. This has made California a shorter time destination for tourists who are on a budget. The budget hotel/motels mentioned are all ok but certainly not luxurious. Do watch out for the hotel taxes. We would look at...

Decent affordable accommodation in the US?

I looked up where we had our staff stay in California and those hotel prices have really zoomed. We used Ayres mostly and Embassy Suites. You will need to really search hard in 2024. I would say that you should not head out to east Los Angeles.

A lot of Victorians cannot easily get out even if they wanted to this year. Meanwhile we sold James Hardie and Ramsay Health. We bought Good Drinks Australia which is GDA. Their downward trend may mean we are a bit too early.

QF 9 between MEL and PER my thoughts

We have done QF9 and QF10 twice as domestic travellers. Too much proving we are domestic flyers so I doubt we would do it again. We flew from Adelaide to get to Melbourne to get to Perth as a tester. The plane was delayed and the walk to the terminal and then the baggage was very long. We won’t...

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Had a Penfolds 407 at the Epicurean in Perth today. It was overpriced and there was sediment in my glass at the end of our lunch that was surprising.

Thanks @Flyfrequently. Mrscove had a night in hospital and they caught this kidney stone. Certainly not what we would need when we are in the US next month. The health care place is $250 USD for an appointment and is about a 3 minute drive up the street.

We don’t regret getting the two shingles shots in the US about 6 years ago. I had seen my mother suffer from shingles. We had tried to get the Shingrix shingles shots in Australia but did not succeed back then. The RSV shots are in our fridge and we will get them injected tomorrow. Finding out...

Picked up two RSV shots for tomorrow’s visit to our GP. We are travelling quite a bit in the next few months so we decided to get the injections. I can see why many would not get these shots as they are expensive.

CPI at 1.0% for the quarter to March 31st makes CPI 3.6% on an annual basis. Of course nothing we buy has gone up by that small amount. Now WAR has struggled to $1.13 so they are still 12 cents short of breakeven. Had a slew of quarterly taxes to pay.
