Don't be deceived by the marketing, removing a perk available to everyone isn't an enhancement to the platinum value prop, it's actually a weakening of the program as a whole.

I've had similar experiences. I think it's good the "reserved" seat is on the ticket because at least if someone sits there you have some recourse to say you paid for it and potentially escalate to the crew. With shadow seats, you're not formally entitled to that seat.

At least the reserved seat is ticketed. Nothing worse than a novice traveller moving to sit in your shadow after departure.

I don't know how new or widely known this is but at Sydney airport T2 on the ground floor near baggage collection there's an express security lane. Was literally through security in seconds with no queue on a Friday night.

Personally, I never had any problems purchasing flights with travel bank for any fare type. I remember there were talks of constraining future flight credits (which uses a different travel bank) to certain fare types but I don't think that was ever enforced.

Sounds like you had a dodgy agent. Domestically I've never had an issue with being rebooked on a more desired alternative itinerary when impacted by an involuntary flight change. Glad you were able to find a more convinent itinerary with JQ though
