    Points question

Seats for peak travel periods are snapped up quickly (a year in advance) - if they are released at all. It’s extremely unlikely any more will be released.

    Points question

You'll have to combine SQ and VA flights - SQ from BKK via SIN to one of the Australian east coast cities it services, then VA domestic to Hobart. You'll need to research reward seat availability with both airlines and the cost, then work out the best way to book. You can't book multiple...

    Shipping wine NSW > WA

Agreed, this is what I'm doing with my wine stored in Melb - bringing some back to Perth on each trip (6 in a checked suitcase, 6 in my hand luggage, and 6 with my +1's hand luggage (cheeky, yes I know))

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Are you using points or cash? If points, you can book the itinerary yourself via the multi-city page (flight 1 would be PER-LHR, flight 2 LHR-LJU): https://www.qantas.com/au/en/book-a-trip/flights/multi-city.html If cash, you should use a travel agent or OTA so both flights are on the same...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

Agreed. I don’t think other card credit limits are as important when applying for a charge card that must be paid off each month.

Classic rewards upgrade… not immediately confirmed 🫤

Agree that if you requested the upgrade prior to the ticket being issued, that’s probably the problem. The call centre should be able to fix it.

15k bonus KrisFlyer miles when you transfer 150k MR points

Yes the current promo is better but it’s limited to 150k MR points. I was comparing Marriott v Velocity, where there is no limit.

Those who hold multiple amex cards, how do you justify multiple sets of fees?

I really question if payment processors like pay.com.au are worth it today, given lack of reward seat availability and high points costs and taxes and fees on bookings when you can actually find a seat. For ATO, I just use my NAB Qantas business card. It earns 0.66 points per $1 with zero fees...

15k bonus KrisFlyer miles when you transfer 150k MR points

Isn’t it better to wait for the Marriott promo? In your case: 60k MR -> 30k Velocity + 15% = 34.5k Velocity = 22.3k KrisFlyer Or with the Amex to Marriott 50% promo: 60k MR -> 60k Marriott -> 25k KF

You can’t fly on the 4.50pm or 5.55pm flights?

I’ve also noticed reduced reward seats earlier in the day, but late arvo still seems good.

15k bonus KrisFlyer miles when you transfer 150k MR points

I'm hoping for an Amex -> Marriott 50% promo this August (as the last one was Aug 2023). Then 60k MR -> 60k Marriott -> 25k KF. I think that's going to be as good as we can get.

Can I use a personal Amex platinum for business?

Actually, Amex business cards are in an individual person’s name (not a company or trust). It’s the Director or “Controller”. And if that person has an Amex already, you won’t get bonus points. Corporate cards can be in a company name, but they are for larger businesses, not SMEs.

Can I use a personal Amex platinum for business?

I’ve gone through patches of putting $100k+ per month of business expenses on my personal Amex Platinum and no one has ever asked a question, except one time when I got close to my informal limit on the card and they gave me a call to tell me to deposit some cash.

Article: Qantas Pleased with Classic Plus Uptake

Qantas has much less leeway to mislead in its ASX announcements, so it’ll be interesting to see what it says about all this in its next earnings release, due in late August.

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

It's still early days, but here are some initial stats from Qantas. 10.7 billion points redeemed on international reward seats since the launch of CR+ in April (this includes both CR and CR+ bookings). That's an increase of about a third, but there's no mention of the actual CR / CR+ split...
