SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

Ah yes. I think the former is what I call the “Aussie cage” around midnight because all the overnight flights to Australia tend to go from there :p

SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

Good point- I hadn’t even thought of that! There’s quite a few airports around where you can’t get to the loo past the security. I believe some gates in Changi have a separate “emergency” toilet inside the secure area but many don’t.

SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

I’m one of those guilty of enjoying more than my fare share of alcoholic beverages which tends to induce the need for the loo. But I hear heavy tea drinkers have similar problems and there’s also plenty of health conditions that can make people needing to p€€ more frequently. And of course...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

On my flights it was the good old Duval-Lerois which is alright but nothing amazing, agreed. Preferred the new Lallier that was served on the inbound and also in the Flounge a fair bit more.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF148, two hours later on the same route: Had exactly the same menu choice as Mattg above. Both myself and my partner had the chicken which was alright but nothing spectacular. As on the outbound, champagne ran out just after dinner. Flight crew advised that they always only get two bottles...

Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

Yes, same here- we were indeed on the later QF148 one and must have just missed you!

Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

Oh- we’ve almost bumped into each other then, we’ve been there yesterday as well! As you say, no sign of anything happening. Luckily, the EK lounge had mercy with us so we could spend an hour at least there which of course was a real treat :)

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

SYD-AKL on QF145: Flights over an hour or so already can’t be too good if on an old 737 but that Qantas has further downgraded their meal offerings post COVID is a real cough move in my eyes. You used to at least get a little glimpse of QF International when crossing the Tasman (especially if on...

Of course, they just HAVE to. “Climate armageddon”- speaking of cry wolf

Op-ed: Airlines Must Take the Seatbelt Sign More Seriously

And it doesn’t explain why some airlines are much more “reasonable” while others tend to overdue it. Most passengers have flown with more than one carrier before so you can tell. Flew QF over the Tasman yesterday and while we had been warned that it “might get a bit bumpy”, the seatbelt sign...

SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

I can see already what the Lufthansas of this world will do: It will become the next lame excuse to chit chat instead of offering proper service. Same as the stupid tinted windows which (of course!) are now an easy way out to turn the entire cabin black during the day so that we don’t have to...

SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

Wow, just saw this article- wonder if that’s true? Pretty shocking if it is: Bangkok officials block Australian patient from criticising Singapore Airlines

Op-ed: Airlines Must Take the Seatbelt Sign More Seriously

Always found that SUPER creepy with the seat belt and, worse, the oxygen mask in there. It’s also the main reason why each shower has to have a “Spa attendant” outside, just in case.

Op-ed: Airlines Must Take the Seatbelt Sign More Seriously

I do this as well and some airlines actually enforce it at least “strongly recommend” this. Actually it is SQ who tell you on the wrapping of their slippers to wait putting them on until after takeoff “for safety reasons”) I must admit I don’t do this but see your point. Problem is especially...

Op-ed: Airlines Must Take the Seatbelt Sign More Seriously

From what I hear, that would be way too difficult/ unclear to decipher as a layman. A bit like reading an X-ray print out which never tells me anything but doctors seem to understand it. That’s what experts are there for!

Op-ed: Airlines Must Take the Seatbelt Sign More Seriously

Yep, typical AA, I’ve noticed this about the window shades too (there are others like this as well- LATAM quite often also doesn’t care about this). And seat belt sign on many AA flights just stays on during the entire flight, full stop.

Op-ed: Airlines Must Take the Seatbelt Sign More Seriously

I always on purpose stop whatever oh so important I am doing and pay attention even though I’ve heard it soooo many times before. It’s just common decency towards the crew imho. Plus I always loved watching the in person demonstration, especially the emergency exit part :)

Op-ed: Airlines Must Take the Seatbelt Sign More Seriously

I just realised that I should clarify something: When I complain that certain airlines in certain countries tend to leave the seatbelt sign on for way too long, I’m not advocating we should all unbuckle as soon as the sign is off. I’m only about the inevitable need to use the loo here. If in...

Op-ed: Airlines Must Take the Seatbelt Sign More Seriously

Isn’t that pretty standard after takeoff? Crew gets a call or chime to start their procedures while passengers have to wait in their seats a bit longer? I seem to remember the same from many an international flight with various airlines.

Oh- that’s a great one! Goes straight into my mental list of arguments to pull in order to convince my better half that this is “definitely worth it” :p
